Zoho Sheet

Zoho Sheet is the spreadsheet part of the Zoho online suite, enabling you to create and view spreadsheets online for free, without the need for PC-based software.

The Zoho Office Suite was developed as an online alternative for PC-based office software. With fast, always-on broadband becoming more and more ubiquitous, many people are choosing to store and edit their basic computer work online, allowing for access from multiple locations and ease of backup. As well as allowing you to create and edit spreadsheets online, Zoho sheet also allows you to view and edit Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. This can be particularly useful when you are using a PC with no Office software installed.

It's difficult to say whether the Zoho Sheet software is different from other online spreadsheets, such as Google Docs, to which it seems very similar. However, if you choose to use the Zoho Office Suite in it's entirety, then the the logical choice would be to stick with the entire line of Zoho products. One difference that online spreadsheets have with their desktop counterparts is in the amount of features. An online spreadsheet can do basic calculations and graphing, but things like statistical analysis of graphs, macros and other power features are absent.

Zoho Sheet confirms the old saying that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, because when you first enter the Zoho Sheet homepage you'll be left wondering if you haven't accidentally stumbled into a Google website. A quick glance at the logo in the corner confirms that, yes, this is indeed Zoho Sheet. The look and feel is simple and uncluttered, and once you enter the spreadsheet area, you will immediately recognise all the buttons and icons, seeing as they are very similar to the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet environment. If you are already familiar with spreadsheets, you can start straight away.

Registration is extremely minimal, requiring you to specify only a username, password and e-mail address. You will need to validate your e-mail via a confirmation e-mail.

Zoho Suite proves a free online spreadsheet service. If you would like to sign up for the entire Zoho Office suite, including customer relations software, then you need to join a subscription service. If you want to stick with only the spreadsheet option, then the free service will suffice.

Zoho Sheet is a simple online spreadsheet service for basic tasks. It allows you to create, view and edit multiple spreadsheet formats through your browser and create an online backup. However, if you need more powerful features, then you're probably better off sticking to a traditional PC-based spreadsheet programme.
