ThinkFree Calc is a spreadsheet application and a component of the ThinkFree online office suite.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
ThinkFree as company was founded in 1999. A first online office suite was launched in 2000 but it was not feasible because not many people had broadband access. The online office application it offers now was launched in 2005.
ThinkFree office consist of three components: word processing, presentation and spreadsheet editing. They share the same control panel and online storage capacity of 1GB.
Existing Excel files can be imported and stored on the server. To share a file you choose an email client, like Gmail, Outlook or Hotmail, and specify if the invitee can only view and download the spreadsheet or is also allowed to edit. In June 2007 ThinkFree announced they would integrate "EditGrid" within the office suite to make real-time collaborative spreadsheet editing possible.
What are the differences to other applications?
They tried their best to create a Microsoft Excel look-a-like. It has all the same buttons, looks and basic functions. Advanced features like macro's and templates are not available.
How does the application look and feel to use?
ThinkFree looks extremly similar to Microsoft Excel. If you are familiar with Excel it's easy to switch to this application.

Free to use with a maximum storage capacity of 1GB. Money is made from an Adsense advertising banner shown next to the spreadsheets.
