What can you use the application for?
Netlog is a user-friendly social networking page, with similarities
to sites like Facebook and MySpace. It's simple for people to upload
images, videos, and blogs that you can show-off on the front page of
the site.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Netlog began in Europe, with most of the millions of users being in
this continent. Although it's usable by anybody in any country all around the
world, people outside of Europe will feel somewhat excluded from the
general population. Currently, there are over millions and million of
users using Netlog.
What are the differences to other applications?
The differences are very low. Comparing Netlog to MySpace and
Facebook together, Netlog seems like another branch on the social
networking tree. However, this isn't saying that Netlog is terrible,
it's simply not really unique.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Netlog has one of the better navigation systems on social networking
websites- it's clean, stylish, and simple. Anything you are looking
for can be found on the navigation bar at the top, or at the bottom as
well. As well, the site moves at a moderately decent speed, but some
may feel that it goes too slow for older computers.
How does the registration process work?
Let's face it- on a social networking page, you HAVE to register. One
small quirk is that you are doing all the registering on different
pages- you can't enter your information all at once. However, they
gracefully allow you to skip certain parts like hobbies and interests,
but if you are using the site to its full extent, it may take a while
to fully register properly.
What does it cost to use the application?
It's free for almost everything. On Netlog, virtual "Credits" are
buyable for putting images, blogs, and videos, on the front page.
There are other ways of receiving credits without paying money, but
since it's an option, it's worthwhile to mention. As for ad's, they're
small, but on mostly every page- however, they don't really hinder
your progress in any way.
Who would you recommend the application to?
This site is extremely recommended for those who use MySpace,
Facebook, and other social networking websites to add your profile on
another popular site. Living in Europe is a huge plus, but it still
shouldn't deter those in other countries from signing-up. For those
with no experience social networking, this is an excellent start.
