AppAppeal Story

The idea for AppAppeal arose because people kept asking us what online application that should use. "My colleges asked how they could send a file of 150MB to another company and my mother wanted an online music station to listen to." remarks co-founder Sytse Sijbrandij. Traditionally you had to spend a lot of time searching for relevant applications and then you had to test them yourself. Or you would have to sift through tons of blog posts and comments to try to find out which one looked best.

AppAppeal has an extensive catalog of the apps that are available in a certain category. It allows you to quickly discover new ones and to find out which ones are useful. While most people know Google Docs, but there are tons of other online word processors you might never heard of like ThinkFree, Zoho Writer and Buzzword. Choose what suits your needs based on our description, quality score, feature list, pricing information, screenshots and screencasts. As co-founder Jelle de Bruin puts it: "With AppAppeal my friends know what apps are worth their time."

AppAppeal Founders

Sytse studied Management Science at the University of Twente and knows Jelle from that time. After graduating he participated in the Extreme Blue program at IBM and was director of operations at a submersible company. He is responsible for the backend of the website and business administration. He loves programming in Ruby on Rails and making overly complicated speadsheets. In his spare time he enjoys sailing, running and social events. Jelle started as an internet entrepreneur after studying Business Administration at the University of Twente and Radboud University Nijmegen. He is among other things, responsible for the design and marketing of AppAppeal.
His favorite web applications are: Gmail, Pandora, Flickr and all applications suitable for his HTC smartphone.
