YouSendIt allows users to share files online. Users can easily send files from their desktop, the web or a mobile device. The application is not restricted by email size limits. YouSendIt allows users to share folders and save work directly to cloud folders, which offer unlimited storage space. The files and folders can be synched to provide offline access as well as mobile access. Users can invite others to view files and collaborate on projects. Document signing features are also included that allow users to sign forms from their tablet computer, smart phone or desktop computer. The user never has to fax the form and can immediately send it back complete with signature. The user can preview their documents and complete forms with typed text inserts if they prefer.
YouSendIt was founded in 2004 by Ranjith Kumaran. It was an instant success and in 2006, Ivan Koon, an ex Senior Vice President at Adobe, joined as CEO. In April 2012, it was announced that Ivan Koon will step down as CEO. A replacement has not been named yet.
YouSendIt offers uses a full spectrum of file sharing and storage features. Users can easily collaborate on files over the internet by uploading them to YouSendIt. The application allows users to sync files that can be accessed by any internet enabled device, including mobile phones, laptops and tablet computers.
YouSendIt utilizes a pleasant green and blue color scheme set against a white and pale blue background. The basic logo features a paper airplane in blue and green. Five buttons cover the top, right hand corner to give the user access to more information and access to the free trial and pricing plans. Along the left side, users can access the file sending form with further information listed below.
Registration is not necessary for sending a file but then the file will be removed after 3 downloads. A new user can create a YouSendIt account by clicking the blue “Sign Up” link in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage (to the left of the small blue lock icon). The user must click the green button that corresponds with their preferred membership plan on the following page. The form appears on the following page and asks for email, full name, password, payment option and payment information. Users can choose between Paypal or a Visa credit card.
YouSendIt offers users three membership options to choose from. The first is the free plan which includes 2 GBs of storage space, up to five signed documents, mobile app access, desktop app synchronization, 50 MB maximum file size, pay per use advanced security options, knowledge base and FAQ access and 100 maximum downloads per file. The Pro plan costs around $10 per month and includes up to 5 GBs of file storage, up to 10 signed documents, pay per use advanced security features, 500 maximum downloads per file and email and live chat support. The Pro Plus plan costs around $15 per month and includes unlimited storage, unlimited signed documents, 2 GB maximum file size, the ability to control expiration dates, advanced security features, unlimited downloads for each file, download tracking, return receipt, access to the YouSendIt dropbox and email, live chat and phone support.
