YourNextFilm is an application designed to assist users in discovering new films to watch based on films they have enjoyed in the past. Recommendations are based on user input – indicating whether or not a person who enjoyed one film would enjoy another suggestion.
Robert Boland and Marko Dukic have co-founded this application, YourNextRead, and YourNextPresent. There is no traffic information available for the website.
Suggestions for films are based on user input with “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” as to whether users who enjoyed the film in question would enjoy one they have “connected” it with in a map.
YourNextFilm is simple to use, but yields very limited results. No film entered during this review offered more than fifteen results. While this may seem like quite a few, when looking at the titles and considering sequels and common sense recommendations, it isn’t as many as it sounds like. Consider Star Wars Episode IV: This search offered the remaining Star Wars movies, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Toy Story 3, Mortal Kombat, and Antz. A search for Toy Story did not offer anything a shopper wouldn’t find on the Disney/Pixar rack at the store.
The application itself is easy to use, and would be very handy if the results were more varied and original.
Registration requires an email, password, username, and age group. An email with confirmation link completes the process.
YourNextFilm is completely free of charge. As an affiliate marketer for Amazon, they ask that you support the site by shopping through the Amazon links in the application.
This application might be useful for people looking for movie or television series suggestions based on ones they like. Perhaps as more users enter information, the app will provide expanded results.
