Yardsellr is designed to make buying and selling items more personal. There are many places to sell personal belongings online. Ebay has become a hugely popular selling site, however all that popularity has diminished the personal experience for some buyers and sellers. It is much more difficult to wade through all available sellers to find someone who is reliable, honest and offering a quality product at a good price. Yardsellr helps reduce the risk by offering buyers and sellers a way to work within a network. The size is smaller, but individuals can easily advertise their items for sale through their social networks. Sites like Facebook and Twitter are compatible with Yardsellr so users can spread the word about items they are selling to people they know and trust. The online neighborhood may be much smaller, but the interactions are safer and less time is required to screen potential sellers. Yardsellr is essentially an online yard or garage sale for the average user.
Yardsellr was founded in October of 2009. Based in Palo Alto, California, the site was created as a new approach to the social market place. The creators built the site with the belief that everyone is a natural buyer and seller. Yardsellr was intended to give individuals a platform to sell and buy to a select group rather than to the entire internet. The site has become very popular, receiving funding in March and November of 2010.
Buying and selling on the internet is something that happens every day. There are many places to do it and ways to go about completing an online transaction. There is nothing new in this process however Yardsellr offers users a different way to buy and sell. The user can work within their social network to make purchases or sell items. Facebook offers a similar marketplace that allows users to advertise their items to their network, but Yardsellr offers a more specialized experience. The site is completely devoted to helping users buy and sell online.
The Yardsellr website has a very fun, welcoming feel to it. The concept of the yard sale is captured through the warm colored price tag logo and pleasant orange and maroon color scheme of the site. Users can enjoy a clutter free experience, with only four simple tabs across the top of the page and a well organized layout everywhere else. Yardsellr is ideal for almost anyone, even first time online buyers and sellers.
A new seller can click on the maroon “sell” tab at the top right hand corner of the homepage. The user is immediately taken to the product entry form. This form asks for a product title/name, an asking price and a detailed description. The description field includes a few basic text formatting tools such as bold, italic, underline, and left, right and center alignment. Scrolling down, the user can find the remaining sections of the entry form. The first asks for a photo of the item (this is optional), and payment methods the user plans to offer. The last box is for delivery methods. After clicking the large gold “Sell Now” button, a pop up box appears asking the user to log in to Facebook. The only way to register for Yardsellr at this time is through an existing Facebook account.
The cost of Yardsellr works well considering the service offered. Anyone can post an item to sell for free. There are no listing fees and no fees if the item sells. Other sites require similar fees, but they also offer more options when selling. Yardsellr operates through Facebook, which already has a marketplace. Asking the user to pay as well would be a bit much considering what is already available.
Yardsellr is a great selling tool for anyone, provided they use Facebook. Those who do not use Facebook may not get much use out of Yardsellr. The concept of the social network as a way of selling an item is a good one. However, it is also rather limiting. After all, users who have an item to sell to the people they know likely have other ways to advertise it (such as word of mouth or a status update).

The only scary thing I have ever seen concerning Yardsellr, was this crazy stalker, that used to litter the fb review page every day. That crazy stalker has been all over the place, including this review page. I was so glad Yardsellr took care of that issue, once and for all. There is nothing scary about Yardsellr, I enjoy shopping the site, and I have never had any problems to speak of. I am considering becoming a seller, very soon. :)

Trust an unknown site like this? I trust trading person to person through paypal more. they hold your money and you have to ship out item before getting paid. Are you stupid? All the person buying has to say oh this arrived broke or not what I wanted or said the item was. It happend. And they wont pay you. Check out the BBB. Be careful and don't cry when you get ripped off.

I've been a buyer and seller on Yardsellr for 3 weeks now. I've sold 20 items and purchased 8 items. I too thought it was really weird for the BUYER to have to pay a fee BUT after buying a few times, it really doesn't bother me. Why? Well, first of all, you get Photon$ just for logging in every day, sending free gifts to friends, etc. These Photon$ help offset the fees. Also, I look at the "Yardsellr slice" as a fee for getting a good deal. Yes, there are people who overprice their items and that frustrates me to no end BUT I've also found so many amazing deals on Yardsellr that I don't mind Yardsellr's fee. As a seller, Yardsellr has been a godsend! I don't have to pay ridiculous fees and they trust me as a seller. They even send your PayPal payment as a GIFT so they pay the transaction fee AND they can't request their money back. Also, they pay within 3 business days of shipment. If I were a new eBay seller, I'd have to wait 3 days after the item is RECEIVED. So say all the bad you want about Yardsellr but I enjoy it and highly recommend it.

Recent comments appear to be from same person that disgruntled ex seller on Yardsellr. So sorry there is no more review board for them to bash on...NOT! Yardsellr is a great site, and for some people to have never sold on it they sure think they know a lot about it. LOL. Merry Christmas to all and wishing everyone much success and sales that are a part of the Yardsellr Community! http://www.bellacandlescents.com

I agree with barbwil 100%. I mean, why doesn't yardsellr have a normal website or ask for sellers' ID when they sign up like most reputable buying n selling sites do??? Can we say tax evasion? Also,Yardsellr is run by a bunch of children and allow people to sell stolen goods on their site! Do Not be fooled by these scam artists and their sellers. Stay Away!!!!!

I love this site! I sell here and Listia, but enjoy Yardsellr a lot more. I love that there are no fees for sellers. Like the other person said that for the people that complain about paying a small fee...this is all we've endured as sellers. With the photons from Yardsellr it's free cash to offset this and they give you more when you buy, so it's a WIN-WIN. Also most sellers gift you photons with purchase. Love this site!! PS - Very happy there is no longer a review board on Facebook:)

I like yardsellr a lot. I stopped shopping on Ebay, because it was so frustrating. I love the Yardsellr online "yardsale" approach much better. It's much more casual and friendly. It's much easier to search for the items I'm looking for, than actual yardsales, and I find what I want. I'm getting some things together to sell for Christmas. I am going to give Yardsellr a try, instead of getting a booth, at the local fairs this year. Sometimes, all that work just doesn't seem worth it. I'm looking forward to trying something new, and Yardsellr seems like the best option. I really love this site. :)

Yardsellr is a realy good site to sell your unwanted items, crafts, etc. You can open your own online "store" and maintain it at no cost. They do not suspend people for "no" reason as mentioned in a couple of other reviews on this page. There have only been a couple suspensions, and they were, for valid reasons. I find that Yardsellr is a very people oriented site, and the staff, and most of the sellers are very friendly, and helpful. My experience with Yardsellr has been a very positive one. I have no complaints. :)

There is plenty to lose! Just ask all the people they suspended for no reason and all the people they owe money to,buyers/sellers!! That is no lie!! Don't waste your time unless you enjoy stress and depend on the income to support your family!! Not worth the time!

Great Site!! Much better than Ebay, and some of those other no seller fee sites out there. I highly recommend giving Yardsellr a try, there is nothing to lose.

Yardsellr is and will always continue to be a great site. @UNBELIEVABLE; You are unbelievable! No site runs PERFECTLY all the time, It's the internet, things happen. And how would you know what happened with Pay Pal? You are not even a part of Yardsellr. Keep trying to destroy the site. It's not working. You are wasting your time. P.S., I did not get paid for this, or any other review. Maybe another site is paying all of you Yardsellr bashers, to post bad reviews. Seems to me like, even the Yardsellr haters, can't stay away from the site.

Yardsellr is fantastic!! No fees to sell, and your items actually sell. If you need assiatance, there is always someone there to help. The staff at Yardsellr never takes more than 30 minutes to respond to a question, or concern. Very often, a fellow seller will offer advice, and help. They give away Photons (free money) as an added bonus. The site is very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunatly, there are a few trolls, that frequent the review page, but that happens on review pages everywhere. 170,000 active users and a 41/2 star rating. Obviously, a lot of happy users. I will never go back to that "other" site, or look elsewhere. Yardsellr is the way to go. Looking forward to seeing the active user rate hit the 200,000 mark. :)
