WGT or World Golf Tour is an online golf game, it claims to be the most realistic online golf game and it is a very high quality game. The purpose of the game is to make it possible for anyone to play golf and spark people’s interest in the game. WGT offers single player and multiplayer games; it also allows people to learn the game by sharing information about rules, courses and equipment. It’s not just a game but it’s also an online community. Being a professional golfer isn’t possible for everyone; however this game makes it possible for you to find out exactly what it’s like. The online community allows players to compete to win prizes. It’s a virtual world where you can try to become rich and well known. There are currently three golf courses available virtually; all of these are modeled on real golf courses, including the Bali Hai Golf club in Las Vegas, The Wolf Creek Resort Nevada, and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island golf resort. The team are promising to add many more courses in the future.
WGT was founded in February 2007, the game was previously available at worldgolftour.com however the whole site has since been re-branded as WGT.com, and the game is taking the spotlight on the site.
Unlike other online games this one could be confused with a normal computer game, generally online games are slow and unresponsive but this one isn’t. The graphics are also better than you would expect from an online game and could easily rival what you would get from the modern generation of games consoles.
The game is great fun to play, it does take some getting used to how to control it but that’s just because golf is a complicated game. Once you know the basics then there will be nothing stopping you, it should be fairly easy for you to play golf at some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Although nothing could replace actually playing golf there for real, these virtual courses do come a long way. The graphics are fantastic and can easily be compared to photographic quality.
If you just want to try out the game then you don’t need to register, you can play as a guest by clicking the play now button. If you want to play in a tournament, create a profile or share your scores then you will need to register. By registering you will get a character inside the game that you will compete with. To do this you need to click the sign up button, you will need to enter your email address, date of birth, and location. In order to sign up you need to be over 18 and living in certain countries.
WGT.com is a completely free online game, it’s supported by adverts for hotels and golf resorts, these don’t get in the way though and aren’t a problem.
WGT is ideal for anyone who loves golf and wants to play it even if they can’t visit the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Few people can say that they have played at the Kiawah Island golf resort, but thanks to this game it’s possible to play there and see what it’s really like. When more courses are added then you can get even more enjoyment out of it!

WGT is a blood-sucking money-grabbing pile of crap. The game is basically OK, as long as you don't spend anything on it. Any players who would like to continue to play it for free – spending nothing on the brand-sponsored balls, clubs, or God help us clothes – should invite my game name, JoeMcBride2, to be a friend. Then we can have fun playing it for kicks without succumbing to the capitalist frenzy that these Californian moneygrabbers think we should like

@Benjamin - it's true the shots sometimes go astray even with a perfect hit, but that isn't a secret. One of the attributes of the various clubs is 'precision', which effectively means repeatability. The higher the 'precision', the less often that happens; with basic clubs it's half the time but with upgrades it's more like 1 in 20. I love this game - it's true that they're out to get money out of you, and much of the game is geared towards that, but actually you don't NEED to spend anything. I got down to scratch handicap without spending a penny, but eventually decided to get some upgraded clubs so I could play with the better players at the top levels - I didn't really resent spending the money (£15 or so altogether, although I'd never usually pay for anything online), as I've got so much enjoyment out it. True, it is a frustrating game at times but that is realistic too - so is real golf.

Nick has played the game once at most if he doesn't know how to zoom a putt in. Take no notice of him it's a fantastic game. You just can't master it in one round, unlike Tiger Woods online. I'd say 50 rounds minimum before passing any kind of judgment.

The graphics are not merely comparable to photographic quality graphics - they are actual photos of the real courses!
