Workingpoint.com is a site that offers online small to medium-sized business billing and invoicing software. The site can actually be used as a complete accounting and contact management system by small to medium-sized businesses. The site uses a set of predefined accounts to track income and expenses, and generates invoices and quotes as well. Users can view a number of different reports, including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement. The software is designed to be easy to use. The site is laid out in logical sections, including Contacts, Invoice, Bills, Items (products and services offered by the user's company) and Accounts (a set of predefined accounts). The user receives a custom web page (a subdomain of Workingpoint.com) to display their company’s profile.
The Contacts page shows a list view of all of the user's contacts, along with their email address and phone number. A detailed view is available by clicking on a contact. The Invoices tab shows a summary of the user's invoices, along with amount, balance due and due date. Again, a more detailed view is available by clicking on an invoice. The Bills page allows the user to see at a glance what bills are due and what bills have been paid. More information is available by clicking on an individual bill in the list. The Items page allows customers to add and enter products and services that they sell. As with the other pages, a summary as well as a detail view is available. The Accounts page shows a set of predefined account categories – a paid membership to the site is required to customize these categories.
Workingpoint.com was launched in May 2009.
Competition to Workingpoint.com comes from sites such as QuickBooks Online and Clarity Accounting. Workingpoint.com has a free version, which is limited to 1 user and does not offer integration with bank accounts. Paid versions offer more users and other features. QuickBooks Online and Clarity Accounting offer services very similar to Workingpoint. A free account at QuickBooks Online is limited to 1 user and 20 customers. Paid plans are available that increase these limits as well as add other features. Clarity Accunting offers a 30-day free trial and two different paid plans.
The user interface for Workingpoint is simplistic and easy to use. The site would be easy for someone with no accounting experience to learn to use – it is very straightforward.
Registration to Workingpoint.com is free and is required to access the site. The registration process asks for company name, first and last name, email address, password and a name for the custom sub-domain for the user's profile page. A free membership is limited to 1 user, does not allow users to add custom account categories and does not offer integration with the customer's bank account.
Workingpoint.com offers three different paid membership plans – Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Bronze plan offers 2 users and bank account integration. The Silver membership offers 5 users and bank account as well as e-commerce integration. The Gold membership offers all the features of the Silver plan in addition to raising the user limit to 10 users.
The Workingpoint.com site is recommended to anyone with a small to medium-sized business looking for an inexpensive online accounting solution. The site is easier to use than its competitors, and provides a full-featured accounting solution at a reasonable cost. The free plan is usable for a very small business, and the variety of paid plans covers the needs of most users.

WorkingPoint does not provide customer service. Their system stopped accepting credit cards (all of mine anyway - and they were all verified as valid and used successfully elsewhere). Then, they threatened to cancel my account. No one to call. Countless emails have gone unanswered - with the exception of one that said -"I'll check into it". Stay away. These guys are not serious.
