What can you use the application for?
Windows Live Hotmail offers online email hosted at Microsoft servers. Online email means you never have to worry about storing your email and that you can log in from any PC.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Hotmail was a pioneer in online email, launched on American Independence Day in 1996. The name Hotmail comes from HTML email, HTML is the language for webpages. It was an instant hit and Hotmail was purchased by Microsoft for 400 million dollar at the end of 1997. Since then it has grown to more than 300 million users and was renamed to Windows Live Hotmail in 2007.
What are the differences to other applications?
Windows Live Hotmail is not very different from Yahoo Mail or Gmail. The interface which looks like Microsoft Office Outlook may be the biggest difference from the other contestants in this market.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Windows Live Hotmail has a familiar interface with nice looks and simple buttons. You feel like you are using a desktop application with a rich user experience. And Microsoft managed to keep the performance quick and snappy.
How does the registration process work?
Registration requires your birth year but not your birth date. Other than that it asks the s.tandard questions. After sign up you can select the version, the full one gives you the most Outlook like user experience.
What does it cost to use the application?
Windows Live Hotmail's storage space has grown considerably from the 2MB it once was to 5GB nowadays. Banner ads are shown on each page which sometimes slows the loading of the webpage.
Who would you recommend the application to?
We recommend this service for current Hotmail users and people who like Outlook and don't want to learn a new way of doing things. Windows Live Hotmail is easy to use, looks nice and has all the features.

Me too - when I click any link to my Hotmail I get the samed page "Our latest improvements" totally unable to view emails from google, msn home pages. Live Hotmail is crap, and I dont want to know how to use messenger, calendar or any of you complex add-ons. Yeah, kids, I'm 68 and been using Hotmail for years...what the H...is goin on? Can't get the 2 messages waiting for me. Have a granddaughter who is absent and may be in danger; she messages me... so get with the action Hotmail dudes!

Live Hotmail does not work well. Many times it blocks access to e mails, and makes it difficult to find the e mails. It seems in some sort of competition with Hotmail.com, and will over ride it. Many times an existing e mail will simply disapear, and cannot be found again.If the programme is left on, it will also disappear after a time. It must be one of the worst 'improvements' that have been made to Hotmail.IT seems since hotmail has been purchased by Microsoft Hotmail has progressively got worse. Can we have our old service back?

I've run out of tactics to sneak up on my Hotmail account. No matter what I do I get cycled out during the login process. There is no error message. This has been going on for at least a couple of weeks. Of course I've been to the WL help page, but it seems like nobody's home. There are plenty of howls from other frustrated users there though. I've already transferred my most important contacts to another site and will continue to do so. I didn't dump Hotmail--they dumped me!

I know people! I can't find anything other than to change to the windows live version of hotmail. This truly sucks! I 'm glad I got to change my log in name though, but I want my contacts!! It took me forever to get them all. How can I can I keep my contacts and let everyone know my new log in address?

I too can not get into my mail. I just want to get into your mail and check it and answer it....What ever happened when hotmail merged with msn live was not a good merger.

this is a terrible account...i can read my email but cannot delete anything or retrieve emails that i sent from my other email account....this is so unacceptable for this era...this is the worst

After reading all the reviews i have just come across i have the same problem i cannot get into my emails as they say my password is wrong but i know its not as i know it of by heart all my photos are on my hotmail account which are all of my grandchildren.Please advise what the problem is and hopefully i have not lost all my photos.

I agree with everyone. I can't get into my, homepage to retrieve my email from Hotmail either. This sucks, what on earth is going on? :-O All I keep getting is that my account doesn't exist & that my user name is not recognized & do I want to change my password. Well, my dear Morons, I do exist & have existed with the same user name for years along with the same password! I can't change my password to the crap that you sent me, why, because guess what that doesn't exist either. The other reason that I can't change my password is because I have MS which has taken my memory from me. So, please for GODS SAKE GET THIS CRAP STRAIGHTENED OUT!! I have hotmail account. When I reply to an e-m and start type the line above the form tha is Send, etc disapears so in order to send an e-m I must click on NEW, this happens everytime I want to reply to an e-m and there is nowhere on your site that I can talk to someone, and the areawhere you type you message is small, I cannot see the whole message..............CAN SOMEONE HELP?
