The page displays the current time, encouraging the user to “get up and go out.” The user can select what they want to do from a drop down box list. The list includes party, drink, music and relax. A few unique categories are included such as weird, touristy and active. The user chooses when they would like to go out in the next drop down box. Time options include today, tomorrow, this weekend and anytime. The site shows the user what’s going on right now, in the next day and next weekend. A trending tab lets the user see which activities are the most popular.
UpOut was founded in January of 2011 by William King and Martin Shen. The application is still in beta, so it has quite a bit of growing to do. New users are allows to take a sneak peek around to see what UpOut will offer however they will find no actual activities listed on the site yet. The user’s local time is displayed on the homepage, adding a nice personal touch to the experience.
