What are the differences to other apps?

uCoz has many modules to add on to web pages. The editor is not live and it is difficult to evaluate edits and changes when working with the site.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

After a lengthy, bulky registration process, it took several attempts and hunt-and-peck to find out how to proceed. Once in the control panel, users choose a site name and design and default language. 250 templates are shown in thumbnail and there is no way to enlarge to view details. Users are then directed to a page of modules, including page editor, forum, album, etc. Redirection to home page displays a busy looking interface.

The site builder is not intuitive. There is no live edit feature and preview is found by clicking “module checkup”, which is not available on all pages/utilities. This application is not easy to use for beginners and can be frustrating when attempting to decipher each module.

How does the registration process work?

To register, users provide an email address, password, full name, nickname, date of birth, gender, location, and security code. After confirming email, users must select another unique password for the website management. Security codes, which were very difficult to see, were required three times during registration process. After final registration steps, users are required to sign in via another secure form which was met with a script error.

What does it cost to use the application?

Many features are free, but fee-based packages are available with no advertising, increased disk space, enhanced tech support, FTP access, support for larger file uploading, hidden stats counter, indexing by search engines, free domain. These packages range from $3.49/month to $8.99/month.

This application would be most appealing to users who have some experience using CMS. Beginners will likely become frustrated with the complexity of the interface.
