Twiddla gives its users a versatile white board to come up with new ideas or improve existing ones. The application allows users to start with a clean slate and build ideas from the ground up as a group. The web based white board also provides users with a place to give feedback for graphics, website designs and photographs. There are many things that can be done with Twiddla. Professionals can even use the white board to supplement a conference call or online meeting. All features are available just by logging in so no downloads or installations are required that can hinder use among a group. Twiddla even gives new users a sandbox version to explore before putting the application to use. Additional features include Twiddla buttons that can be placed on a website or blog.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Twiddla was founded in 2008. The company remains small, consisting of less than five individuals including CEO Benjamin Satterfield and CTO Jason Kester. Both Satterfield and Kester are responsible for the founding of Twiddla. The creators wanted to construct a valuable tool that would help users get more out of their collaboration efforts in a way that was convenience. Twiddla has met hose expectations well, with chat features and constant access.

What are the differences to other apps?

Twiddla offers users a service that is not new, but presents it with many helpful features that make it more appealing over some of the competition. Users can chat directly or hold voice conferences through Phone From Here which is accessible through Twiddla. Twiddla works on any browser, which is another big plus for users who might be collaborating with clients or other professionals on different computers.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Twiddla invites users with an appealing blend of professionalism and humor. The site’s logo features a blue and white “Hello my name is” sticker with Twiddla scrawled in black ink. The homepage also features an individual drawing a playful unicorn, stick figure style, perhaps hinting at the versatility of the application.

How does the registration process work?

New users can begin by clicking the grey “Start your 30 day Free Trial!” link at the top, right hand corner of the Twiddla homepage. A small pop up box appears asking the user for a username, password and email address. After entering the information and submitting it to Twiddla, the user is advised that they must check their email inbox for an activation email with a link and instructions on how to complete registration. The user’s account will expire within one day if they do not complete the registration process. A field and button are also presented that allow the user to reenter their email address (which is automatically populated in the data entry field) to have another confirmation message sent.

What does it cost to use the application?

Twiddla gives users four membership types to choose from. The first is considered a Guest account and is available for free. The Guest membership is intended for the clients of users who need to access the white board. This membership includes the ability to create and attend meetings and voice chat capability. The Professional membership costs around $15 per month and includes one named user account, email tech support, shared images, documents and email, screen capture capability, custom meeting URLs, meeting history and transcripts, password protected meetings, SSL security, moderator controls and API access. The Enterprise membership costs around $50 per month and upgrades to include up to 20 named user accounts, up to 10 simultaneous meetings, priority email support and co-branded meetings. The Universal membership costs around $190 per month and includes unlimited users, up to 100 meetings as well as email and phone support,

Twiddla is a great tool for anyone who has to collaborate. It is professional enough to work with clients or business partners, but simple enough that anyone can learn how to use it quickly regardless of computer skill level.
