Tripology helps users connect with travel planning experts to create a journey that meets all of their needs. Users can review resources that provide information on travel related topics, such as 10 top myths about travel agents, the Tripology Experts blog and 101 reasons to use travel agents. Those who want to be contacted by a planner can submit their details to Tripology. The user is asked to share information about their dream vacation through the trip request form. The form asks about travel dates, locations and other related details. The information is passed along to three travel specialists who put together a customized trip itinerary. The user can review each itinerary, select one and use it. After doing so, the user is asked to provide feedback about the excursion. Tripology covers many destinations all over the world, from Africa to Southeastern and eastern Asia, Western Europe, the Caribbean and many more.
Tripology is based out of New York City, New York. The site was launched in June of 2007 by Rand McNally. Since then, Tripology has received and processed over 65,000 trip requests. Today, the Tripology team consists of less than ten individuals, including CEO John T. Peters, founder Chinedu Echeruo, Vice President of Trade Sales and Marketing Veronique Deblois, Senior Developer Adriano DeRose and Director Charles Crockett.
Tripology offers services similar to other travel websites, but with an added bonus. Users can request a custom made itinerary created by Tripology specialists. Users are not given just one, but three itineraries created by three different individuals to choose from. This gives travel planning a human touch without a great deal of expense. Users can also learn about travel agents and other related resources by checking out articles offered on Tripology.
Tripology greets new users with a pleasant, stylish design featuring light orange and sky blue. The background entices users to explore the world with wispy white clouds against a blue sky. The Tripology logo is positioned inside a detailed luggage tag. The site is well organized and provides simple, concise instructions right on the homepage to make it easier for new users to get started. The trip request form is also neat and clean, asking for all the basics so the user is given an itinerary that suits their individuals travel needs.
Two types of user can register for Tripology. The first are travel specialists who wish to offer services to users. By clicking the blue “Travel Specialists enter here” button at the top, right hand corner of the page, the user is taken to the registration form. The form requires an Agency ID, email address, password, first and last name and optional invitation code as well as terms of service agreement and consumer privacy policy agreement. Travelers can click the orange “Get Started (It’s Free!)” button found along the left hand side of the homepage. This takes the user to the trip request form.
Tripology does not charge users a subscription fee or other fee for using the site. The way the site works is by generating leads for travel agents. The agent is charged a small fee for the privilege of contacting Tripology users who have requested itineraries. It is a great way to help users save more money that can go towards the cost of their trip while travel agents generate warm leads with less advertising cost.
Tripology is a tool for anyone who plans to travel as well as travel agents. Agents can use the site to generate leads while travelers can use it to learn about agents and request itineraries based on their trip requirements.
