Transferr users can create accounts and manage lists of their favorite websites from a single location. Rather than wading through text lists on a browser, users can review frequently visited websites and sort them using thumbnail icons. Import features and color coordination add greater user control while sorting through favorite websites. Transferr was designed to help users better organize their favorite websites by taking it a few steps beyond the typical bookmark lists. The website, which was launched in December of 2007, has been improved upon, although the main focus remains on sorting and sharing favorite internet locations. For the most part, Transferr adds dimension to the standard bookmarking function. Today, every popular web browser comes with its own bookmarks feature. However, these usually come in the form of a simple text list that can be cumbersome to sort. Transferr provides a new, colorful way to organized and maintain favorites. While this is a unique feature, it starts to seem a little extraneous for the average user. Most internet visitors have little problem with their browser’s existing bookmark feature and do not have to visit another website to utilize it. The Transferr logo has a fun, nostalgic feel to it that does not carry over to the rest of the website. Color coding of website lists makes sorting easy from a visual standpoint. After initial account creation, the main user account page is extremely bland. The addition of a few colorful website groups can help, however the lack of features probably contributes to the sparse appearance of the new user account page. On the other hand, this also makes creating the first website group very simple, using the easy to locate icon found on the center of the page. Visitors to the Transfer website can create an account by filling out the registration form. A username, first name, password and email address are required to complete account creation. Oddly enough, the Transferr account registration process does not permit usernames to contain a capital letter. Whether this limitation is a website error or intentional is uncertain. No websites have to be added during the registration stage. However, most users will want to start importing and adding their favorites immediately because the site offers little else to do in the way of entertainment and features. The features found on Transferr are currently offered for free. No premium account access has been added to the website. In reality, it may be difficult to convince users to pay a fee for this type of service, at least without adding more features to it. While the ability to sort bookmarks using colors and thumbnails is helpful, especially for users with difficulty seeing, it is not enough to expect visitors to pay for the luxury. Any frequent internet visitor who has a long bookmark list can appreciate the features offered on Transferr. Those that have a more manageable collection of favorite websites may not be as interested in this type of application. The internet offers entertainment for many people, and these are the types of users that might find Transferr useful to keep tabs on the newest internet fads and additions.
