Ratingstars1 Rated 1 out of 5 stars by AppAppeal Editor
What can you use the application for?
Tip’d is an online social networking site where members can share financial advice, including business tips and investment ideas. It’s an online community for financial ideas, tips and news. It uses a blog which means the community can decide which and what information is told to the users of the site. Users can vote and choose the best content by clicking the “Tip It” button; it’s also possible for users to contribute by commenting on the story. Tip’d was founded by two businessmen that were looking for a way to discuss financial and investment tips in a friendly and casual way without having to meet up in person.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Tip’d was founded in September 2008 by Jimmy Atkinson and Andy Hagans. The company is based in Texas, USA.
What are the differences to other applications?
Tip'd is just another Digg clone but it focuses on financial news. Any user can contribute and because posts are voted for only relevant information should appear at the top of the list of posts.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Tip’d looks virtually the same as any other blog but it offers financial information. Users can vote to choose good posts and the ones with higher ratings will appear higher up the results. This should make it easier to find useful content. The site is split up into a number of different categories to make it easy to find posts on a particular subject.
How does the registration process work?
Registering for an account is very easy you just need to fill out the fairly standard registration form and that’s all there is too it. You will be sent an email however you will not need to do anything with this message. When signing up you also have the option to import contacts from your email or facebook accounts. If you don’t want to then just click on the logo to visit the homepage and you will still be signed in.
What does it cost to use the application?
Tip’d is completely free to use and it is supported by adverts. The adverts are fairly small and don’t seem to get in the way of useful financial advice.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Tip’d is just another Digg clone for anyone looking for investment or financial news but who doesn’t have the time or inclination to visit a specialist. The site contains a lot of spam posts, most post are not valuable.
