Visitors can use the Find to locate just about everything related to the products they want to buy. The Find isn’t just a search engine; it’s a product-focused search tool. Users can locate all products from every retailer, available coupons as well as reviews. With these various items, the user can search for products, look for ways to save money on them, and also review them before making the purchase. The Find helps streamline the researching and buying process that often comes with ordering merchandise online.
The Find was founded in October of 2006 by Nanda Kishore, Siva Kumar, and Shashikant Khandelwal. Based out of Mountain View, California, the Find gives users a more definitive way to search for product information and retail locations. The Find first went profitable in 2008 and has grown tremendously since then, receiving financial backing from Ligthspeed Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures.
When viewed in general, the Find doesn’t offer anything out of the ordinary. However, it is unique in the scope of its searching. A standard web search will include many irrelevant results, especially when the user is ready to buy or simply looking for a review to make a decision. The Find gives the user more power and convenience by providing results that include all the items they want to see rather than many they do not. The user can browse a list of potential retailers, product information, and reviews.
The Find website features a very sparse layout that works exceptionally well for this type of online search tool. A new visitor is pleasantly surprised by the lack of advertisements and clutter. The homepage features the actual search tool, positioned right where it should be at the center. Login functions are available as well as concise links to learn more about the site. The user can select from three search types: products, coupons, and reviews as well as a location. Overall, the layout and design of the Find is ideal for the service it provides to users.
The Find gives new users two options for creating an account. The first is through an existing Facebook profile, which can be done by clicking the blue button at the top right hand corner of the homepage. Those who prefer the traditional registration process can click the blue “Create account” link just beside the Facebook button. The user is taken to the account creation form, which asks for an email address, password, and gender. The email coupon opt in is automatically checked, and has to be unchecked to unsubscribe. After submitting the information, the user is automatically taken back to the Find’s website and can begin accessing account features.
Search engines are generally available to anyone for free. The service offered is helpful, but doesn’t warrant a payment. The Find would need to expand its scope and provide more functions beyond those that are available for free almost anywhere. Luckily, the Find realizes this and does not charge users for performing searches or creating an account. Anyone can access all the current features for free. No premium account is offered at this time with no word on whether or not this will be changing in the future.
Almost anyone can benefit from using the Find. The site is ideal for users that are interested in making a purchase right away or in the near future. By providing detailed information, including reviews, as well as potential retail locations that carry the product, the Find can streamline the shopping process.
