Tgethr is a collaboration and group email application that is designed for a diverse user base. Although the application can be utilized by professionals in a business setting, it is also intended for casual use among friends or family members. Users can build private groups that are backed by SSL encryption for added security. Group members can share images and files that are automatically embedded to group page. Developers can use Tgethr to share code as well. Users can also protect themselves from spam using email certifications. Tgethr provides users with the ability to track past and current conversations and send messages using a CC or BCC to the entire group. Tgethr also integrates easily with popular web services, including Dropbox.
Tgethr was created by Inkling, which was founded in January of 2007. Inkling offers companies a platform to manage marketplaces. The company has worked with many popular clients such as Cisco, CNN, Chrysler, Acxiom, Electronic Arts, Wells Fargo, General Mills and the government of Singapore. The team is based out of Chicago and consists of less than five individuals, including CEO Adam Siegel and CTO Nate Kontny.
What makes Tgethr so unique from other collaboration tools is its versatility. The application is right at home in a professional setting or as a platform for a group of friends to chat or work on a project together. Tgethr is kept simple but includes many valuable features that can be used in many ways.
The Tgethr website is clean and neat with an element of fun, which is highlighted by the anime-esque robot and ninja characters that make up the logo. Despite the playful nature of the logo and site as a whole, the application is well organized making it a good choice for professionals as well as casual users.
A new user can join Tgethr by clicking on the green “Join for Free!” button found along the right hand side of the homepage. The registration form requires an email address, password and first and last name. After entering the information, the user can click the “Create my Account” button at the bottom of the form to continue. The user is directed to the current membership plan page and can then move on to the group creation area.
Tgethr provides users with four membership plans to choose from. The first is a free plan that includes one group, up to five users, 250 MBs of storage space, normal security features, up to five service calls per month and a handful of small advertisements. The Starter plan costs just over $5 per month and includes up to three groups, unlimited users, 2 GBs of storage space, one secure group, unlimited service calls and no advertisements. The Basic membership costs around $12 per month and includes up to 10 groups, 5 GBs of storage space and three secure groups. The most expensive plan is the Plus membership which costs just under $25 per month and includes unlimited groups, 15 GBs of storage space and unlimited secure groups.
Tgethr is a collaboration tool that can work for anyone. Professionals and casual users can appreciate the many features. Although it might feel a little too watered down for professionals in need of a detailed application to meet demanding project needs, it can function well for others.
