TaskArmy is an application for matching freelancers with jobs. It is a relatively new marketplace that is striving to put quality over lowball pricing.

TaskArmy was founded by 27 year old French entrepreneur based in Australia. Dealing with frustrations from using the current outsourcing sites for freelancers, he created TaskArmy as a marketplace where quality and creativity are valued over pricing.

TaskArmy keeps sellers and buyers anonymous. Services are fixed at $99 at this point with 20% fees paid to TaskArmy. This is a high percentage compared to other existing freelance sites. TaskArmy requires payment in advance and releases funds after the services are provided. TaskArmy does NOT provide refunds; instead it holds the funds towards future purchases from the site.

When listing a service, for example, a freelancer listing copywriting skills, a $99 price is the only choice. Freelancers must complete the sentence: For $99 I will _______. Then the “expert” adds a description and experience to the listing for potential clients to review. Freelance experts may not change the $99 price, so they must consider carefully what they wish to provide for that amount.

Those individuals listing jobs may set any price they wish. They fill out a form that says: For $___ you will ______. A description is added by the buyer. These submissions are reviewed and approved quickly before being listed online.

The process seems easy. It is obvious that the site is very new. There are only a few jobs listed at this point. The $99 price point may be off-putting for some freelancers and some of the currently listed jobs have ridiculously low budgets. Coupled with the 20% fees, freelancers are likely to look elsewhere for work.

Users simply provide a user name and email address along with a password. Once provided, the user is logged in and my begin using the site.

Registration is free. TaskArmy takes 20% of earnings in fees.

Based on the number of freelance outsourcing sites available, I would not recommend TaskArmy. Their inexperience, pricing, and high fees make the site unappealing, not to mention the lack of refunds for rejected offers or closed jobs.
