What can you use the application for?
Slim Timer is a timetracking application which enables you to measure how much time you spend on each task. In a webbrowser window you can click a task to start tracking it and click another task to switch activities. It lets you print detailed reports of the time spent on tasks.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
SlimTimer was created by Richard White. He has previously worked at Kiko, an online calendar. SlimTimer was launched in 2006 and is currently gaining popularity.
What are the differences to other applications?
There are many task management applications available, but none offer such detailed time reporting. When you need minute by minute reports then get rid of the Excel speadsheets and get SlimTimer.
How does the application look and feel to use?
The website is clean and quick. The window you use to keep track of your tasks is as minimal as possible. It has a second counter and uses colors to keep track of the active task. It's easy to add another task and there are keyboard shortcuts available.
How does the registration process work?
Registration requires an email address which needs to be confirmed. Other than that it is hassle free. You can sign up at the front page and customizing date format and timezone is easy.
What does it cost to use the application?
SlimTimer is free for now but in the future, paid accounts are likely. These will be for extra services such as support and encryption. The developers have promised a free version will always be available.
Who would you recommend the application to?
SlimTimer is great for independent and freelance workers. You can track the time you spend for clients and provide them with a detailed overview. For individual task management without reporting there are other solutions with more features.
  • Quick AJAX interface
  • Print reports based on tags
  • Can be put on desktop with help of another program
  • Saves your spent minutes before closing the browser window
