ShortStack.com gives professionals and businesses an easier way to add custom tabs to their Facebook pages. The application removes the need for coding and development knowledge. Users can add any kind of media, from videos to images, Twitter feeds, product listings, RSS feeds, visitor polls and contact forms. ShortStack also provides users with handy collaboration tools so the user can work with a team or group on a Facebook page. The application is designed to help users get more out of their Facebook pages without paying for a professional or attempting to learn the Facebook API on their own.
ShortStack was founded in November of 2010. Based out of Reno, Nevada, the current team consists of around five individuals, including Jim Belosic. The application was developed to help businesses and professionals create eye-catching, functional Facebook pages without all the headache of learning code. ShortStack continues to improve its offerings with a built in performance tab and analytics coming in the near future.
ShortStack makes it much easier for users to build an effective Facebook page for their business. In the past, this task took some time and an understanding of the Facebook API and coding. Using ShortStack removes all the headache by giving the user simple tools that allow them to create original tabs for their Facebook pages. The application covers just about anything the user could want to add to their pages, including Twitter feeds, RSS feeds, images, videos, products, polls, forms and newsletters.
The ShortStack website uses a very eye-catching blue, brown and orange color scheme that goes right along with its tasty short stack theme. A cylinder shaped stack of pancakes, topped with butter and outlined in a sleek blue box is the application’s trademark, which can be seen throughout. The user interface is very easy to understand, with five blue buttons that run across the top of the user dashboard to provide access to the designer, media, templates, tabs and account areas. Tabs for each appear just below the buttons, along with a left hand side bar menu of functions the user needs to work within each.
New users can try ShortStack by clicking the orange “Start here, for free” button along the left hand side of the homepage. This opens up a new browser which includes a blue “Login with Facebook” button along the left hand side. Naturally the user would need a Facebook account to use ShortStack (since that is what the application is intended for). It is understandable that this would be the only log in option available. After clicking the blue button, the user must sign in to their Facebook account and allow access to begin.
Anyone can try ShortStack for free. The design area is available to the user for as long as they want, however a paid membership is required to publish to Facebook. Users are given four memberships to choose from. The first is the Silver Dollar for just under $10 per month. This account includes a ShortStack branded footer and is intended for pages with up to 2,500 fans/likes. The Short Stack account costs around $30 per month and includes no branded footer, custom publishing, tab collaboration and up to 25,000 fans/likes. The Full Stack account costs around $75 per month and includes advanced analytics and up to 100,000 fans/likes. The All You Can Eat account costs around $300 per month and gives the user unlimited fans/likes.
ShortStack is a great tool for any business or professional who wants to tap into the potential of Facebook but lacks the resources to create an effective business page. The application is very easy to use and helps the user along. The four membership options also make it easier for the user to fit ShortStack into their small or medium size business budget.
