What can you use the application for?
ScrnShots is a community and social network for all kinds of designers to share and discuss screenshots of screen-based work they find inspirational. ScrnShots brings designers together and gives them a space and the tools needed to share ideas and continue to learn their craft. ScrnShots also acts as an unlimited source of reference and inspiration for designers.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
ScrnShots was built and designed by Orange Peel Media, and although ScrnShots is currently in private beta, they are planning to release it to the public on May 6, 2008.
As print designers are taught in their first year of schooling, it’s essential to keep a scrapbook/diary of inspirational design to look back on later for stimuli. This “inspiration diary” is then used as a starting point for designing new projects.
ScrnShots is a digital inspiration diary focused on screenshots of design that encourages communication and discussion. On top of these individual diaries is a community of designers that are interested in discussing current design ideas and trends which moves the entire industry forward
What are the differences to other applications?
The current landscape for continued learning as a designer in digital mediums is scarce and problematic. There are few communities today that fill this large gap in the digital design industries.
