Recipefy was created by Matteo Alessani, Simone Susini and Duccio Giovannelli. Based out of Firenze, Italy, the founders wanted to create a tool that would help users manage their recipes and discover new ones. The application would allow users to bookmark recipes, share them and post them so that other users from all over the world could give them a try. The application currently provides a number of helpful tools and a simple way to manage recipes online.

There are quite a few recipe focused applications available on the web today. Each provides its own interface and unique features. What makes Recipefy so appealing is both the layout and functionality. The site provides users with all the basic functions they expect and a highly organized layout that really works for each recipe. Users can also submit images to go with their recipes, which is a huge plus for other users who attempt to make the dish. Overall, Recipefy isn’t terribly unique but the site offers all the things a user could want out of a recipe management application.

Recipefy invites users with a very cozy, clean design. The background features a hardwood floor texture that enriches the overall appearance of the site. The logo in the upper, left hand corner features dark brown with the image of a small, simple recipe box. The recipe pages are very neat and clean, with stylish numbers, a header and all the recipe details listed along with ingredients and an image (if the user added one). The site contains some advertisements, but these do little to take away from the aesthetic value of Recipefy.

A new user can join Recipefy by clicking the green “Join Now, It’s Free!” button along the right hand side of the homepage. The user is given four registration options. The first three are found at the top of the registration form page and allow the user to log in through an existing Facebook, Twitter or Google account. Users who prefer to go the traditional route can provide their name, email address, password and country location in the form supplied below. After clicking the green button at the bottom of the form, the user is advised that they must check their email for an activation link which is required to complete registration.

Recipefy offers a simple but effective service that would not do well to charge a fee. The creators have kept the application appealing by offering it to all users for free. There are no charges for creating an account or subscription fees required to maintain an account. The site includes advertisements, which help offset the cost of operating Recipefy so users can continue to enjoy the site for free.
