RateitAll is a consumer rating platform where you can rate pretty much anything you like. The idea is the same as many other consumer rating applications on the internet, however with this one you can rate absolutely anything. From a product, to a family event. Absolutely anything can be rated. You can even earn money from the site because it links with the Google AdSense API where you can share some of the advertising revenue. RateitAll also makes it possible for users to create their own channels. The website is powered using a complex array of apps, widgets and API’s which make the site a truly interactive and exciting site that’s well worth the visit!
What is the history and popularity of the app?
RateitNow was founded in 2005 by Lawrence Coburn. There are currently 6 employees running the site and it’s based in San Francisco. The site has become very popular especially during the recent years and receives hits from all over the world.
What are the differences to other apps?
Unlike other consumer review sites where you can only create shops or certain products, on this site you can rate absolutely anything. You can write about any experiences that you’ve had and then the community will be able to have fun reading them and commenting. It’s the only social review site out there are the moment which could b why it’s become so popular.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
The application looks and feels like most of the other consumer review sites on the internet. If you are interested in reading other peoples reviews then you can do so without actually registering first. All of the various reviews are split up into various categories which makes it easy to find something that you would like to read. The only difference is that you can post revise about virtually anything. If you want to comment or make your own reviews then you will first need to register for an account. This is also very easy and doesn’t take more than a minute.
How does the registration process work?
Registering for an account at RateitAll only takes around a minute which makes it very easy. Once you have an account you can then start publishing your own reviews, and commenting on other peoples. You will need to enter a username, email address, password and security code. As the password isn’t confirmed it’s important to make sure that you type it right. You will then be given the option to either sign up to Google adsense, or to use your existing Google adsense account. You can skip this if you like, but you no doubt want to start earning money too. It’s also possible to add your friends by searching your address book and adding a photo if you like.
What does it cost to use the application?
Using RateitAll is free; the site is funded by adverts. You can even make some money from the site if you have a Google adsense account.
Who would you recommend the application to?
RateitAll is great for people that enjoy social networking sites but are looking for one that’s just a little bit different. If you have an opinion about everything then you will enjoy this site, but not all the review topics are really useful.
