What can you use the app for?

Many people have fallen in love with intern radio. RadioTuna was created to help users find quality internet radio stations playing the music they want to listen to. Much like other applications, RadioTuna was created out of a need. At the time, it seemed as though there were few resources to help users find online radio stations playing what they wanted to hear. Users can visit RadioTuna and browse through an extensive list of musical genres, including alternative, blues, country, pop, rock, Latin, jazz, funk, electro, dance, classical, reggae, rap, hard rock, chilled and more. Users can also search by keyword to find a specific station. Another helpful tool along with the genre and station search is the artist search. Users can find a station playing a specific artist. RadioTuna also offers the Tiny Tuna website widget.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

RadioTuna was founded in August of 2008. It was intended to provide a real time online radio search tool. Based out of Brighton, Great Britain, the team currently includes fewer than five individuals. The founders came up with the concept behind RadioTuna when they discovered that is was difficult to find a good online radio station. Today, many users turn to Radio Tuna to help them discover stations that suit their musical tastes.

What are the differences to other apps?

RadioTuna is unique because it covers a large number of diverse genres. The search tools are very well refined and allow users to search by genre, station and even artist. The artist search can really go far for users who may not be certain which genre they prefer. Instead, they can come up with a few of their favorite musicians and use the criteria to find a fitting station through RadioTuna.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The RadioTuna website has a very fun atmosphere focused on music. A new user is greeted by a black background with hot pink dividers, headers and the big eyed RadioTuna fish logo. Musical notes and speaker-esque circles rock out from the bottom of the homepage while the trademark tuna fish leaps from the musical bubbling. A left hand side bar presents the main genres while the search tools can be found using the tabs at the center of the page.

How does the registration process work?

Users can browse the genres and utilize the search tools without a RadioTuna account. Those who want to create an account can click the blue “Register” link found at the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. A narrow registration form appears on the following page and asks for a username, password, email address and a security question and answer. A small check box just above the “Register” button is automatically selected to sign the user up for the Tuna newsletter. Users must manually uncheck this to opt out.

What does it cost to use the application?

RadioTuna is available to anyone for free. The user can access the categories and search tools without an account. Those who create an account can do so for free. RadioTuna does not charge a subscription or set up fee for access. It is essentially a resource to find internet radio stations, so this is definitely a good choice. Additional features would really be needed to justify an access price.

Who would you recommend the application to?

RadioTuna is a great tool for anyone who enjoys listening to music on the internet. Whether the user needs entertainment at the office or simply wants to rock out while browsing the web, Radio Tuna can help. The site is very easy to use and free to everyone.
