Creating online slide shows and photo albums can be fun. Many people love putting together photographs, but it can be hard to find a way to do it that is unique, original and convenient. Pummel Vision takes the time consuming elements out of compiling a personal photo display. User can stop by the Pummel Vision website and choose to pull images from one of their social networking accounts, including Tumblr, Flickr, and Facebook. After entering the user’s login information and authorizing Pummel Vision access to photo albums, the site will compile a video collection of photos. Users can even choose Facebook photos that were tagged by other users. After compiling the collection, the user can share it so others can view their unique photo display. The idea is that Pummel Vision allows the user to compile “flashes” of their life in a convenient video.
Pummel Vision was founded in 2010 by Jake Lodwick. The site was intended to give users a way to build a collection of images from Facebook, Flickr or Tumblr into a video that presents flashes of memories from their lives. The application was kept very easy to use and may be improved upon in the future. A recent update made on December 27th, 2010 added the ability to make a video using tagged photos from Facebook.
Pummel Vision takes some of the time out of compiling an attractive, presentable photo album or similar display. The result is a video that can display many photographs and tell more stories. Viewers can enjoy many memories through the numerous user photos that flash along rather than clicking through one to the next.
The Pummel Vision website is very basic, and this is a great thing. One of the benefits to creating a photo video through Pummel Vision is the convenience, which the site design enhances. The site uses a dark color scheme with the main steps of the process highlighted. The user simply begins with step one and works through until they have their Pummel Vision video and can share it with others.
New visitors do not have to make a Pummel Vision account to begin using the site. All they have to do is begin the process of making a video. The first step requires choosing either Facebook, Tumblr or Flickr to grab photographs from to put in the video. This step will require the user’s login and password for their accounts. These are the only options currently offered. It would be nice to see a few additional options added, although with a service like Pummel Vision, it is easy to see why a traditional registration form might not work as well.
Pummel Vision offers a fun, convenient service but it is not something worthy of a subscription fee or other payment. Right now, anyone can access Pummel Vision for free. It costs nothing to register through an existing Flickr, Tumblr or Facebook account and begin compiling photo videos. The site is still new and being updated, so it is possible that additional features added in the future might include some kind of fee. For now, anyone can access Pummel Vision with out paying a dime.
Pummel Vision is ideal for anyone who takes a lot of photographs and shares them online frequently. The site is used entirely for compiling fast videos of photographs posted online. Users who have many photos already posted to Flickr, Tumblr or Facebook would get the most use out of Pummel Vision.
