Plasboo takes its name from Places Social Bookmarking and is a social network focused site for disseminating information about places of interest.
Plasboo is very new and no information is available for history or traffic statistics.
It is based on users adding places to the site. It is completely dependent upon user input.
Once registered, users are offered a number of activities including adding or inviting friends, uploading a profile pic, exploring, and more.
Interestingly, even though a US city was listed in the profile, the current location defaulted to Bergamo, Italy, where Plasboo is located. Once corrected, no placemarks were found in the city entered. It was easy to enter a local museum, using a Google map to pinpoint the location. Users are prompted to upload pictures, add tags, and provide ratings and details for the new location.
Is there a reason to connect over this type of network? The effort involved in providing all of the information requested to add a location seems more than most users will be interested in giving. With foursquare and Facebook Places, Plasboo seems obsolete before it takes off.
Users can connect with Facebook or provide full name, email address, city, country, username, and password.
Plasboo is free to use.
With Facebook Places and Foursquare, Plasboo is unnecessary and is not recommended.
