What can you use the app for?
PeoplePerHour is a freelance website where you can go to post jobs online and also find some work in your spare time. If you have projects that you want completed then you simply need to create an account on the website, then post your projects and wait for the proposals to roll in. Bidding on projects to get some extra money is also very easy, you also need an account and then you can search for a variety of different types of jobs including programming and copywriting.
What is the history and popularity of the app?
PeoplePerHour was founded by Xenios Thrasyvoulou and Simos Kitiris in 2007, the pair both graduated from Cambridge University. It is becoming increasingly popular as it fills a unique niche of the market, dealing in pounds rather than dollars and also targeting part time workers.
What are the differences to other apps?
There are a large number of various freelance websites on the internet, however PeoplePerHour targets a unique area, firstly instead of dealing in dollars people are free to bid and earn money in pounds. It also targets people working freelance part time rather than competing sites that try to attract full time workers.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
While PeoplePerHour doesn’t look as sophisticated as some of the competitors, that’s actually a good thing. Many freelance websites have become bloated and taken on too many complicated features. Using PeoplePerHour is really easy, and you won’t have any problems whether you are posting or applying to jobs. The site is split into two parts, one area for freelancers and one for employers. The only annoying thing about PeoplePerHour is that it is supported by adverts; although these aren’t obtrusive, many of the competing freelance websites do not have any adverts.
How does the registration process work?
Registering is easy; you first need to choose between a buyer or provider account. Either way you will need to fill out a registration form and enter your personal details. Registration is completely free and gives you access to the entire site.
What does it cost to use the application?
All accounts can be registered for free; buyers have an option of either posting projects for free or paying for a priority listing. There are a number of benefits of using priority listings, including that your projects gets added immediately, and also includes the contact details of all the providers so that it’s easy to get in touch. Priority listings cost £20. Buyers don’t have to pay anything to register either; they do have to pay a commission to peopleperhour on the invoiced projects. The website also has a number of adverts throughout it, which does get a little bit annoying for a freelance website.
Who would you recommend the application to?
PeoplePerHour is a fantastic site for anyone looking to do some freelance work during their spare time; it’s not really geared up to suit people who are working full time doing freelance work. The site is ideal for people in England as it’s possible to earn money in pounds. Don’t let the adverts upset you too much as there is some good work to be had on PeoplePerHour.

PPH is nice site and very user friendly as well. There are number of features which can be found only on PPH as compare to other freelancing website. I have personally used the site, the suggestion and number of safeguards provided by site is great. Couple of issues should not bother much. Sites like Facebook and youtube at times has issue so what's a big deal.

No pph is good - yeh there is a small problem with navigation system i.e. when someone bids -- its difficult for provider to get back to the private message board..i think there should be one link for logged in user to get back to private message board on that project itself!!... i can't understand why they didn't do that ..this is the only thing which needs to be corrected.

Just a quick additional note to address some of the more specific points given above: 1. Since the review was posted, we have since removed external advertising 2. To give a job a priority listing, we charge £5, not £20 3. John - I see you've pasted similar comments on several sites and would like to assure you that we are implementing a new navigation system shortly. However, it would be helpful to know what anyone thinks are the main problems with navigation currently, and how they feel it could be improved. Kind regards Xenios

Many thanks for this positive review of Peopleperhour.com and the constructive suggestions. Like all freelance sites, we do encounter bugs from time to time, as we are constantly evolving. We have a specific tool integrated on the site, which allows freelancers and clients to notify us of any specific bugs or problems they encounter, and aim to give feedback or rectify the problem within 48 hours.

For a site called appappeal I am surprised to find PPH on it. They run a porrly written script and have outstanding issues dataing back weeks. Freelancers and Job Posters alike find it's navigation awkward and its a bit strange to suggest it looks good. The most obvious criticism for from those using it are the bugs. Sometimes it saves your job posting or quotation for work and sometimes it doesn't and if you forget to save it to the clipboard its no good hitting the back key, your work is lost. A very depressing site that needs a lot of hard work put into it - and money too. Surprising really, you would have thought they would know where to get the resources wouldn't you?
