What can you use the app for?
Pageflakes is a personalized start page application.
What is the history and popularity of the app?
Pageflakes was founded in Germany in 2006 but is now headquarted in the United States in San Francisco, California. Pageflakes was acquired by Live Universe on April the 13th, 2008.The service is basically the same as Netvibes or iGoogle. They offer customizable start pages where you can add your own feed subscriptions, email service, local weather forecast, bookmark lists, etcetera.
There are also publicly shared homepages called "Pagecasts".
What are the differences to other apps?
Pageflakes is not so much different from other homepage services. The biggest difference is that the modules are not called widgets or gadgets but: Flakes.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
Looks the same as Netvibes. Works the same as similar services with a drag and drop function for the placement of different modules.
How does the registration process work?
Registration is not needed for testing all the features of the service. To save a personalized homepage you need to sign up with your first name, last name, email address and password. Optional fields are "interests", "gender" and "date of birth".

Who would you recommend the application to?
Pageflakes is a solid start-page application but they offer the same functionality as everybody else.
