What can you use the app for?

Otixo provides users with convenient access to their files from a single location. Users can bring together their files from many popular third party applications, including Dropbox, Google Docs, Picasa, SugarSync, MobileMe and Amazon S3. Images and documents can be previewed within the application. The user has one username and password to remember after linking their third party file storage accounts to Otixo. A built in search feature helps the user find their files across cloud based services. Files can be copied and moved from one service to another through Otixo. The application utilizes a simple drag and drop system so the user never has to download files to their computer and upload them again. Files and images can be shared with friends and family or accessed by the user from any location with an internet connection.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Otixo was founded in April of 2010 by Shannon Thomas. The application offers a convenient service that has some users very pleased. Rather than downloading and re-uploading files to get them from one service to another, the user can drag and drop them on Otixo. The application currently supports a number of popular file storage services as well as WebDav drives and FTP sites. Files can also be used remotely on the user’s desktop to reduce hard drive space usage.

What are the differences to other apps?

Otixo is appealing because it brings together many popular file storage services under one virtual roof. Users who utilize two or more services supported by Otixo can easily modify, access and move their files without logging in and out of each account. The user only needs their Otixo credentials to access all files. The service makes file sharing and storage far more convenient and can help the user reduce clutter on their hard drive.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Otixo utilizes a simple file list design that most users are already familiar with. Each item is listed along with an icon representing the file service it is associated with. Clicking on the icon or file service name expands a list of folders contained within that account. The user can easily drag and drop items from one service to the next to instantly move their files where they need them. The interface is simple and has a very professional style to it that works in numerous settings.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can create an Otixo account by clicking the blue “Sign Up for Free” button along the left hand side of the homepage. The registration form appears at the center of the next page and asks for an email address, first and last name and password. After submitting the form, the user is advised that they must check their email inbox for a confirmation message. This must be accessed before the user can sign in to Otixo.

What does it cost to use the application?

All users can sign up for an Otixo account for free. After having signed up, users get 250 MB of bandwidth usage per month. If they feel they need more than 250 MB, they can upgrade to a Business account that offers unlimited bandwidth usage for $9.99 per month.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Otixo is ideal for anyone who utilizes more than one file storage service that is supported by the site. The current list includes a number of very popular services, including Dropbox and Google Docs. The user can save time and make file management far more convenient. Files can be accessed through a single account from anywhere with an internet connection. The user can click and drag items to move them around without having to log in and out of their accounts.

  • Users can create a free account and gain unlimited file access
  • Files can be dragged and dropped from one service to another
  • Google Docs, Dropbox, SugarSync, Picasa and many more services are supported

Otixo does have a fully free account with all features included. The only difference between the free and the paid version is the amount of data you can transfer each month. The paid version is $9.99 and has unlimited bandwidth. The free has a 250mb quota, which you can expand by sharing and recommending it to others.

Although Otixo has a free version, it is not a free service. Certain features are missing in free service and there is a restriction of 250MB bandwidth
