OpenTable

Ratingstars3 Rated 3 out of 5 stars by AppAppeal Editor
What can you use the application for?
OpenTable is a web application for making online reservations at participating restaurants.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
OpenTable was founded in August of 1999 and averages approximately 2 million unique visitors per month. OpenTable offices are located in San Francisco, California.
What are the differences to other applications?
Most restaurant websites offer simple recommendations, pricing, and a description of the cuisine. OpenTable provides real-time reservations through the application either online or via iPhone.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Users can either enter a specific restaurant name or search for a restaurant using location and/or cuisine. Selecting date, time, and party size will result in a search for open reservations. The search will yield not only restaurants and available times, but a map of the locations. Results may be further narrowed by price, time, rating, or cuisine. The profile area tracks reservations and allows users to make a list of favorite restaurants. The entire site is very easy to use. Each restaurant is clickable and has a page with details regarding dress code, pricing, and more. Most link to the restaurant site for menu options. The only real downfall is that the restaurants must be affiliated with OpenTable or individuals cannot use the application to make reservations.
How does the registration process work?
In order to receive email updates, dining rewards points, and online reservation management, a brief registration is required. First and last name, email, password, and primary dining city must be provided.
What does it cost to use the application?
The service is free to consumers. Restaurants must contact OpenTable for pricing and inclusion in the application.
Who would you recommend the application to?
This application is useful for individuals wanting to make online reservations. It would also be valuable for concierge services, administrative assistants, or anyone requiring fast, real time reservation services. The downside is that the restaurant must have OpenTable services.
