What can you use the application for?
Notableapp.com is a site that allows a team of designers working on a website to provide feedback about the website. The site provides tools for capturing web pages and providing feedback directly on the page. Feedback can be visual – the user highlights an area of the page and leaves a note attached to that area, or it can be code-based – pressing the code key brings up the source code for the page, and allows the user to leave notes on any portion of code. Feedback pages are kept in Workspaces, where they can be referred to by any member of the team who has been granted permission to view them. The site provides a browser tool button for capturing a web page to the Workspace. In addition, any page that has been annotated can be converted to a PDF document at the press of a button, so sharing feedback with those outside the team is easy. The annotated document can be made private or public. In the case of a private page, the user must have a coded URL to access the feedback page. Users can easily email the URL of the annotated document to anyone they would like to receive feedback from. The site also offers an iPhone app which can be used to capture and annotate web pages and upload them to the workspace.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Notable was launched in 2009 by Zurb, Inc., an interactive design and web development company located in Campbell, California. The company has over 10 years experience in building web programs and solutions.
What are the differences to other applications?
Competition to Notable comes from sites such as ConceptFeedback and PleaseCritiqueMe. These sites offers tools for individuals to provide feedback on proposed website and graphics arts designs. They can also be used in a team environment like Notable. Notable is unique in that is limited to a small number of people, and access can be limited on a per user basis.
How does the application look and feel to use?
The site is clean and uncluttered and is quite responsive. The online tools are easy to use and responsive, and the interface is very user friendly. Uploads and downloads happen quickly, as do page loads. There is no advertising displayed on the Notable site.
How does the registration process work?
Registration is free and is required to use the Notable site. The registration process asks for first and last name, company name, email address, password and domain name the user would like to use (the user's workspace URL is in the form of username.noteableapp.com). A free account allows up to 3 users, 1 workspace and up to 1GB of storage.
What does it cost to use the application?
The Notable site offers 4 paid plans – Basic, Plus, Premium and Max. The Basic plan allows for up to 5 users, unlimited workspaces and 5GB of storage. The Plus plan allows for up to 10 users, unlimited workspaces and 10GB of storage. Premium increases these limits to 25 users and 25GB of storage and includes unlimited workspaces. The Max plan increases the number of users to 50 and provides 50GB of storage. Pricing for the plans is $24, $44, $69 and $119 per month respectively.
Who would you recommend the application to?
The Notable site is recommended to individuals and companies who do web design work on a regular basis. The service is ideal for receiving feedback from other team members as well as from clients. The tools offered by the site are easy to use. The ability to capture a web page, along with its source and provide annotations is a great convenience when compared to the old way of copying and pasting content and code.
