MyID is an easy pass service that lets users sign in to many accounts using one set of credentials. Users can create a single ID or create a group. The site works with Open ID. A link is provided on the site that gives the user access to a directory of all Open ID-enabled websites. As long as the site is Open ID enabled, the user can log in using MyID. The list includes Microsoft HealthVault, Blogger, iPernity, DailyMotion, WordPress, Jyte and Google. The application also allows users to condense all their account contacts into one convenient location. The user can manage all friends, groups and others for all their accounts using MyID. The application lets users spend less time logging in and more time communicating and updating. MyID.net was the first and the biggest website in Korea that provided OpenID service to the users and later on it started providing it in English also. MyID is one of the services provided by 'Openmaru' which is a studio of developing Internet services of the gaming company 'NCsoft Corporation'. The other popular services provided by Openmaru include Springnote, Lemonpen, Lifepod and Rollinglist. MyID.net was the first OpenID service of Openmaru and was launched in January, 2007. MyID hasn’t received significant attention on the web. It is not the only service like it. The application is created and managed by OpenMaru Studio. The service may be convenient for users who have an Open ID account, but for others it may have nothing appealing to offer. Perhaps it is no surprise that MyID has gone mostly ignored on the web, considering the numerous alternatives that have been discovered by many. MyID maintains a professional design that utilizes grey and a hint of orange throughout. Although the site and interface is somewhat colorful, it retains a professional design. No loud graphic elements or pushy advertisements are placed before the user. The simple appearance makes it easy to get to work adding contacts, groups and accessing other features. The design is subtly modern, although nothing remarkable is present to make the experience a memorable one for the user. Creating a new MyID account begins with the orange “Create my ID” button along the right side of the homepage. The user is taken to the registration form which asks for a user ID, password, email address, nickname and access code (to prove that the user is human). After submitting the form the user is advised that they have created their OpenID and can begin adding contacts and groups. Anyone can create a MyID account for free. There are no fees or purchases required to maintain account access. This is a good choice because the application doesn’t offer anything truly exciting that might entice a user to pay. There are many free alternatives out there, so charging a subscription or access fee would deter most users from trying MyID. The free price gives the user a good value for their time testing out MyID. MyID is meant for anyone who frequents and maintains accounts on websites that require a login that supports OpenID. The service is easy to learn and gives the user access to an enormous number of websites. Of course most users are not going to require access to a majority of the sites on the OpenID directory. MyID is most useful for users who can find at least a handful or more of the sites they frequent on the directory list.
