What can you use the app for?

MingleVerse provides users with a better way to communicate online through voice chat. The application offers convenient voice chatting features that allow users to speak in groups or view the same media all at once while hold discussions about what they saw or heard. MingleVerse has many applications. Users can have fun, enjoying a humorous video with friends online while educators can reach out to more students by holding online classrooms with supplement media. Businesses and professionals can also host meetings and presentations through MingleVerse. By holding discussions and gatherings online through voice chat, users can close geographical gaps and spend less time on money traveling to seminars and meetings. MingleVerse offers flexibility and versatility for many different situations.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

MingleVerse was founded in February of 2008 by Ron Stevens and Len Layton. The company headquarters can be found in Vancouver, British Columbia. The team consists of less than ten individuals, with Stevens standing in as President and CEO. MingleVerse was created to provide a consumer telepresence service. Today, many users utilize MingleVerse as a better way to communicate online.

What are the differences to other apps?

Anyone can use voice chat programs like Ventrilo and TeamSpeak. They could host a server; however the sound quality may vary. The user will also have to find another way to share media (such as through a link). Overall, this approach may work for casual chatting but it is a little too cumbersome for professional or educational needs. MingleVerse has streamlined the features that usually go with voice chat and made it easier to supplement discussion with audio or video media.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

MingleVerse uses a bold blue, black and white color scheme that creates an attractive contrast that appeals to casual and professional users. The site is well organized and easy to navigate. Users can create themselves on MingleVerse, choosing from realistic (and sometimes humorous) wardrobe options so the chat feels as though all participants are standing in the same room together.

How does the registration process work?

A new user has two options for creating a MingleVerse account. Those with a Facebook profile that they are willing to connect can log in that way. A blue button can be found at the top right hand corner of the homepage to log in using Facebook. A green “Sign Up” button can be found along the left hand side of the homepage. This takes the user to the registration form. The form asks for a username, email address (entered twice), password, and agree to the terms of service. A check box is automatically checked to receive MingleVerse updates via email. The user can opt out by manually unchecking the box. After clicking the green “Sign up” button at the bottom of the form, the user is advised to check their email inbox for a verification code.

What does it cost to use the application?

MingleVerse is available to users for free. Anyone can create an account and begin accessing MingleVerse features without paying anything for access. All features are made available. It should be noted that MingleVerse is currently listed as in beta. There is no word on whether the application will remain free after leaving beta. For now, anyone can create an account without paying any subscription fees.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Anyone with a reason to chat online can appreciate MingleVerse. The application provides a unique approach to online voice chat. The current beta status includes free user accounts, so for now anyone can enjoy MingleVerse without paying.

I believe the download is gone. They went zero-download a couple months ago. I'm totally addicted to it :)

I don't get it... the software download is worrisome (I think its called a minlgevers connector) and it takes a while to get anyone else to get set up as well. The avatars don't really provide any useful function but the content sharing is interesting. But why not just use Skype??? its free, more of your friends are already set-up with Skype and screen sharing is just as good. I checked out the public mingles and there aren't many going on. Seems like a solution to a problem that does not exist. Now I have to try to uninstall the mingelr connector cause its crashing my laptop. BE CAUTIOUS with this app.
