Mindomo is a mind mapping software application. A mind map is a brainstorming tool for arranging ideas in a non-linear graphic manner. This encourages free thinking and creativity. Elements are usually arranged into groups and subgroups in a way that demonstrates connections. This type of tool is useful when problem solving and brainstorming for an infinite number of purposes. Educators, corporations, healthcare providers, and more can use Mindomo to analyze large amounts of information with hierarchical structure for visual online organization.

Mindomo is a product of Expert Software Applications (EXswap), a software development company located in Timisoara, Romania, and the European Union. EXswap was formed in 2002 by Zoltán Lórincz and Frank Mrosk. The site averages 15,000 unique visitors per month.

Mindomo is very similar to its competitors. The main advantage to Mindomo is the ability to export files in a wide variety of formats including PDFs and image files.

A get started video covers creation of a new map, adding topics to the map, editing and moving topics, deletion of topics, map navigation, and saving. The interface is easy-to-use and offers multiple options for creating visual maps of ideas with topics, subtopics, and more.

The application allows insertion of attachments, hyperlinks, multimedia, and tasks. Symbols for ideas, problems, information, emails, and more are included. Sixteen map styles are available for use and can be adjusted for center, right or left aligned views. A variety of font options and other basic formatting tools are available.

Maps may be exported in a variety of formats including text, JPG, PDF, XLS, and HTML. Files may be imported from Freemind, MMAP, or Mindomo xml.

A forum is available for users to network and problem solve, request features for future versions, and to report bugs in the program.

After choosing a free or paid plan, users may sign up with first and last name, email account for confirmation, username and password, or simply allow sign in via Gmail or Yahoo existing accounts.

There are three pricing plans for Mindomo. The Basic plan is free to use and offers Professional Mind Mapping, Mindomo Desktop Basic (for offline use), 7 private maps and basic import an export. The Premium plan for $6/month covers all of the Basic Plan options plus Mindomo Desktop Premium, unlimited private maps, 350MB storage space, Map encryption, spell check, topic filters, and advanced export and import features. The Team plan for $9/month/user is designed for teams and has a team administration interface with branded home page, custom subdomain and shared team folder. Subscriptions are billed semiannually or annually in advance and educators receive a 50% plan discount.
