What can you use the app for?
Manymoon.com is an online project collaboration tool. Built on a social networking model, the site offers a complete online project management tool that supports unlimited users. The easy to use web interface allows users to create projects, assign tasks and track progress. Members of a project can easily update others about what they are working on by creating a Bulletin. Members can view a summary of all the Bulletins for a given project to track the progress of other members assigned to the project. The site offers integration with Google Calendar – you can tie your tasks and deadlines to your Google Calendar from within the application, and Google Docs – you can upload documents to your project directly from Google Docs. The Manymoon site offers a convenient top menu bar for navigation. The entries on the menu bar include Home (a user can view a summary of their projects and tasks and view all of the Bulletins related to a project), Profile, Connections (other project members), Create Project and Create Task. When Create Project is selected, the user is prompted for a description and given the option to invite Connections to the project. Next, the user is prompted to Create one or more tasks and assign them to Connections. Once a project is created, a summary of all of its activity can be seen under My Projects on the user’s Home page.
What is the history and popularity of the app?
San Francisco, CA-based Manymoon.com was launched in December 2008. Manymoon has been acquired by Salesforce.com on February 1, 2011.
What are the differences to other apps?
There are many competitors to Manymoon.com. They include Office Live Workspace and Basecamp. The main difference between Manymoon and the other online project management tools is the social networking model that Manymoon is built on. The Manymoon application has a social networking look and feel, with the Bulletin and Update features offering information in a format more similar to Twitter or Facebook than most project management tools. Both Office Live Workspace and Basecamp are more established and have many more users than Manymoon.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
Manymoon has a very clean and uncluttered look. Navigation is intuitive and obvious, and page loads happen quickly. File uploads and downloads are also quick. The interface is very user friendly, with only a very small learning curve involved in using the site. There is no advertising displayed on the site.
How does the registration process work?
Registration for a basic account at Manymoon is free. The registration process asks for first and last name, email address and password. Validation of the email address is required. For premium membership payments, the site accepts PayPal only. PayPal accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards.
What does it cost to use the application?
A basic membership to Manymoon is free, and entitles the user to unlimited tasks, unlimited projects, unlimited users, Google Apps integration and document uploads. Storage space is limited to 5MB, however. There are two levels of premium membership available – Pro and Team. The Pro membership costs $5.00 per month per user and adds SSL encryption of data and up to 3GB of storage per user. The Team membership costs $10.00 per month and increases the storage limit to 5GB (shared by the team), and adds a custom logo display, a custom login page, and administrative tools.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Manymoon is recommended to anyone who could use a free or inexpensive project management tool that is easy to use. Small projects can be successfully managed using a free account, and prices are very reasonable for the premium memberships, which allow for much larger projects to be managed. The site is very easy to use, almost as responsive as a dedicated desktop application, and works well with Google Apps.
  • User can easily create unlimited projects and invite people to join
  • Tasks can be easily created and assigned to project members
  • Bulletin feature gives an overview of all of the project members’ progress
  • Integrates with Google Calendar and Google Docs
  • Small projects can be managed using a free account
  • Price for premium membership for larger projects is reasonable
  • The application and site are very responsive and easy to use

I just spent two weeks looking learning and comparing Manymoon, Zoho Projects, Dooster, and BaseCamp, as I needed project management for a 5-person team working on product development. Google searches led me to try a few others (based on discussions such as this one), and I ended up settling on a lesser-know solution called TeamworkPM. Its the one we have settled on (based on messaging/forum, calendar, to-do/tasks/milestones, document sharing, pricing, support, and intuitive ease-of-use). If you are evaluating a solution, I highly recommend you include this one on your list!

I looking around at the various Online Project Management Apps out there and there may me more intricate ones like Zoho and Basecamp and it looks like they do more than Manymoon, BUT 2 things that I like is that it works with gmail, gmail docs and gmail calendar, etc. and it's completely organized for what I need. I have a 20 person office and 150 other employees and it does what I need. I don't need charts and reports, I need my staff to get things done and I want to see quickly where they're at with the projects and tasks, and this seems to do it easy and efficiently. I just read Salesforce.com just bought it, I guess that means they are going to make it more complicated and charge more, or it could mean they will make it beeter, I hope not but in the meantime, it's great.

Manymoon sucks! I demoed it and the feature that I wanted to see was not available in the free version. So I paid the $29 demoed it and them emailed asking for my money back (we're talking less than 12 hours) and they told me to FUCK OFF! Poor way to do business.

I totally agreed with Bella. Proofhub is amazing because of its features and its flexibilities. Now its popularities is on peek. :)

Another collaboration software is http://www.proofhub.com/. User can collaborate with internal team or clients from one platform. ProofHub lets you manage projects and quickly create client/project extranets. It takes only a few seconds to create a new project, post messages.

Love the ease of use for www.manymoon.com that it works with Google DOC and the free version to start. They also answer questions quickly. I have just gone to the paid services. Martin
