Finding room to conduct business can be a challenge for a business, especially when cost is a concern. Loosecubes presents a new idea that can help businesses find workspace and rent only what they really need. Users can look for or list available work space on the website. The concept behind the site was developed as a way to ensure that anyone could find a work space where they need it, even when traveling far from home. Those who participate in Loose Cubes offer up available work spaces that have everything the user could need, including an internet connection. In return, users can also post their spaces as available so there is a constant exchange of work space availability and rental going on.
Loosecubes is the combined effort of the Behance Network, 3Bits and Volo. It almost seems fitting that a concept such as the one behind Loosecubes would be born from the minds of three creative groups of professionals.
There are many websites that help unite available rental spaces with potential tenants. Loosecubes does something similar but in a different way. Users can rent spaces for shorter periods of time than some leases offer. They can also locate available work spaces all over the world. These spaces are generally already equipped with the luxuries any office worker might need, such as an internet connection.
The name Loosecubes seems to fit very well. The site features a large embedded Google map that is marked with cube icons, indicating an available work space. Available work spaces are listed along with large, colorful thumbnail images, rental rates and location. Viewing the rental profile, the user can get more detailed information including how to get in touch with the person offering the space for rent.
New users are given two login and registration options. The first is by clicking the blue “Facebook” button at the top, center of the homepage. A browser will appear requesting the user’s login information to continue. The second option is to click the white “Sign up” link at the top, right hand corner of the page. The registration form asks for a first and last name, valid email address and password. A second Facebook button is also presented on the registration form in case the user decides to use that method instead.
Loose Cubes is available to all users for free. Anyone can stop by the site and create a new account for nothing. There are no subscription fees or set up charges. The site does not take a fee for renting out a location, either. The only fees currently associated with Loose Cubes is the amount paid to rent a work space. Users are encouraged to talk to the property owner about any special requests or accommodations that might alter the price. The person renting out the space decides how much to charge for rental. The site is currently in beta, and the FAQ page states that once Loose Cubes leaves beta, there will be a nominal fee charged to preserve the integrity of the site’s listings.
Professionals and companies with employees who travel frequently can really appreciate Loosecubes. They can easily find appropriate accommodations to get things done while away without paying for a long lease. Those with rental space available can also find a way to earn some extra cash on space they are not currently using.
