What can you use the app for?

LifeBooker presents a unique combination of discounts, scheduling and rewards for users. The site is dedicated to bringing exclusive discounts to its user community. These discounts are available at high end spas, salons, and other beauty related businesses. Users can find the discounts they want, book their appointment online to secure the deal. After using the discount and trying the business, the user can return to LifeBooker and post a review to earn money back on their next visit.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Based out of Brooklyn, New York, LifeBooker gives users a new way to save money and schedule appointments for beauty services. Founders Andrew Unger and Dana Reichman wanted to create a locally focused resource that helped New Yorkers not only save money, but share their opinions to help others make a good decision about where they go for health and beauty services. The result was LifeBooker which highlighted many premiere businesses located in Manhattan. The site has since expanded to include many other popular United States cities.

What are the differences to other apps?

LifeBooker offers a few unique services. Users can find discounts on the site and apply them to their next health or beauty service. While many website would stop there, LifeBooker continues by making it easy with online booking. User can take their experience and use it to save even more money by providing a review of the business for other users to check out. After reviewing the business, the user will receive additional discounts for return visits. LifeBooker stands out because it looks at all aspects of hiring a health or beauty service, from saving money to scheduling and reviewing.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The LifeBooker website compliments the service it provides to users. The homepage features chic images and a modern design that compliments the purpose of LifeBooker. The necessary tools and navigation links are easy to find on the homepage and users can quickly browse for a specific company and check out user reviews. Despite the unique design, the site is still very simple to use and includes no clutter or obnoxious advertisements.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors can register for LifeBooker by filling out the small registration form found at the right hand side of the homepage, under the “Join for Free” header. LifeBooker keeps it simple asking for only basic information, such as an email address, password, and city of residence. After clicking the gold “Enter Site” button, the user is advised if the city they have chosen has not yet been added. After submitting the information, the user can login and begin browsing the many discounts available through LifeBooker.

What does it cost to use the application?

The amount spend on LifeBooker depends entirely on the user. Creating an account is completely free and there are no premium paid account options or subscription fees. However, to take advantage of discounts, users must purchase their special deals before they take advantage of them. The site states the total amount required, most of which include discounts of 50% or more off the regular price of the service.

Who would you recommend the application to?

LifeBooker is still rather limited in scope because some cities are not yet available. Anyone living in cities that are covered by LifeBooker can save a lot of money on high end beauty services. These are primarily focused on a female audience, although there are also health related savings available to LifeBooker users.

  • Save money by purchasing discounts through the LifeBooker website
  • Schedule your health or beauty services online after purchasing a discount
  • Browse available discounts to find local businesses you want to try
  • Post a review for the service you received and earn additional discounts
  • Learn about local businesses to decide whether or not to buy a discount

the worst customer service ever! they work with crappy business owners without looking into the business. once i bought a deal for a massage and when i arrived to the location, i realized the massage was performed at his own house (in getto Korea Town area). he had birds flying inside his home... i am not lying. the other time, i bought a facial deal and this lady was rude, lying B. she made me wait 20 min outside of the building (she had the door locked from inside and did not pick up for phone for 20 min). i was mad... when she finally called me back, she didn't apologize at all but told me that i have to wait 15 more min! i left the business and called lifebooker customer service. i made 3 phone calls and sent maybe 20 e mails. still waiting to hear back from them. do not ever use this website!! groupon and living social seem like they def do more research before they work with any of these small business. they also have 10 times better customer service. i have been waiting close to 2 months to resolve this with lifebooker. no need to say i am done with them forever. Last time when i heard from Lifebooker, they told me that NoHo facial told them that i showed up late to the business and they were still trying to honor the deal with me but i refused to do it and went home, which is obviously a complete lie! I still have the voice mail she left me after i left, telling me to come back because now she’s done with the previous customer who showed up late for her app. Of course i told this to lifebooker and they said they will look into it. It’s been a month since then. No word from them and they do not respond to my e mails or phone calls.

I always use services such as groupons, living social, giltcity, bloomspot and a whole bunch of other site to find good deals. When I came across Lifebooker, I was hesitant when they ask from my CC info but then I felt comfortable after the site states that my CC will only be charge once I receive services...guess what, one month after my cancelled appointment, the company used my card without my knowledge and debit my account for a cancelled appointment. Even though I cancelled the appointment with the salon, the entire amount - 100% was debited from my account because I did not cancel with this site. When I emailed them for a refund they told me that the salon debited my account, I called the salon and the salon said that Lifebooker debited my account. I called back lifebooker when the rep come on the phone and said since my account was already debited, they could not refund me. I hope the $24.75 was worth a potential long term customer. GOOD RIDDANCE...WILL NEVER, EVER USE THIS SITE...I wanted to file a small claims, but why give them free publicity...

ZERO STARS! I had a horrible experience with Lifebooker, and will any of the zillions of other deal sites out there before I ever use Lifebooker again. This was the result of an awful experience with KimLoveMuse, as described below: I purchased 5 vouchers for 30 minute psychic readings with KimLoveMuse I purchased one for myself, and the rest as Christmas gifts for my friends, and a few of us made appointments this week/end to try it out. I was the first to go, with an appointment set for Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, what transpired was one of the most surprising and horrible experiences I could have ever imagined. Initially, there was some confusion - as Kim had me written in her diary for 3:30pm, and I had confirmed a 3pm appointment - and so was at her office by 2:50pm. However, regardless of who had the correct time - I waited for Kim to arrive until 3:50 pm! TWENTY minutes after my alleged 3:30 start time, and a full hour since I arrived. At this point, I calmly explained to Kim that I could not fulfill a full 30 minute appointment without being late to my next engagement uptown at 4:30, and so would need to reschedule. She had already been extremely rude at every junction of our interaction up to this point, and here she turned downright nasty. First she began yelling at me about how everyone always changes their schedules around, calling me and everyone else "entitled" then continued yelling at me again about some girls that she had just had an argument with down in the lobby (who are these girls and why am I in trouble for whatever they did? No idea). At this point, I asked if I could actually just cancel the appointment altogether. Wishing to remain polite and not start a fight, I said that I was looking for a reading early in the season and since she was "booked for weeks" I would rather just cancel. Here she asked me if I was kidding, called me "entitled" again at least twice - at which point I said "to be honest, I'm just not really feeling the vibe between us and I don't think it's going to work out." Her response was to shout "neither am I! I don't WANT to read you! Go get a refund for your 30 dollars from Lifebooker, freakin' pathetic" and stormed off. I left the lobby in a state of shock. I am NOT the sort of person who gets into arguments or altercations easily, and in this scenario was even more understanding because I really did want to have a fun psychic reading for my friends and I to start the new year! Needless to say, I did not want to use my voucher with Kim, nor did I want my friends to be subjected to such a nasty experience, so I explained the situation to Lifebooker and asked for a refund. After ignoring my email, I got someone on the phone who said that they would request a refund from Kim and get back to me. After not hearing from them for another few days, I called again. The same interaction went on FOUR more times - during each interaction, I was extremely polite and explained the situation again and again, to which their reply was "we want to help you resolve this issue, and will call you by the end of the day." Well, that never happened. I wish that it were just $30 on the line like Kim said - but it's actually $200 for all 5 vouchers at $40 each. I am now talking to my lawyer about suing them and/or KimLoveMuse for this incredibly unethical conduct. As the person below proved as well - Lifebooker does NOT care about their clients, so why should you support them? There are a million other competing sites like LivingSocial or Groupon who do the same thing, and with a better reputation.

I'd give them zero stars if i could. I purchased Laser hair removal (LHR) from them . It was a $229 for 4 areas at European Skin Care Center in NYC. First I couldn't get the company to pick up the phone to place the appointment . When I finally did I went it to find a filty dirty office. 1. They didn't use a paper liner in between customers , just a dirty blanket. 2. They didn't offer we protective eyewear. 3. I googled the treatment when I got home and saw that I recieved IPL instead of LHR. I called the company and told them about it. They promised to get back to me. Noone did. I emailed someone named Ariane and she started to speak to the company on my behalf. After constant calls and emails Lifebooker decided to refund there portion of the loot about $80. Doesn't that mean that the admit that this was a less then perfect transaction? I was still out about $150. They won't do anything. I was told to dispute it on my credit card. Visa wont refund me because I paid lifebooker but European skin care center didn't service me properly. In other words I'm stuck. Unless I bring them to small claims court. Its been a disaster and I recommend sticking with groupon no matter how big the savings seem.
