Licorize takes a unique approach to organization. Through the use of bookmarks, users can build to do lists, complete projects and finish other types of tasks. The application works by providing the user with a one click bookmark add function. The user can easily save a bookmark as soon as they find it. These can be classified using Licorize’s built in types. Each type relates to a specific behavior so they are more sophisticated than a basic tag. Users can invite anyone to join their projects by collaboration through Licorize. The application also lets users compile their collection of bookmarks into a publically available presentation, similar to an online magazine. The user can also choose to share specific collections with others, build to do lists, add priority levels, read weekly work views and much more. The application also synchs with LinkedIn, DropBox, Twitter, Read It Later, RSS, EverNote, InstaPaper and email.
Licorize was created by the Florence, Italy based Open Lab company. The company was founded in 2001 and focuses on developing innovative web applications and design solutions. The team currently includes CEO Caterina Feroci, Licorize Project Leader Pietro Polsinelli, Lead Architect Roberto Bicchierai, Developer Silvia Chelazzi and Art Director Laura Mirri.
There are many applications that help users get organized and finish work online. Licorize is unique because it uses bookmarks to complete the task. The basis for the application also makes it flexible. Through bookmarks, users can create an online magazine, share resources or collaborate on a project with others.
The Licorize website has a very original, stylish appearance that is hard to miss. The homepage features a black background with white, swirling lines that match the logo. The visual effect of white on black using different textures and patterns has an almost illuminated appearance, something akin to neon lights with a more sophisticated style. The design elements throughout are just as elegant, featuring the same white and black color scheme with the occasional color icon or browser logo.
A new user can sign up for Licorize by clicking the gold “Try It Now” button found along the lower, left hand side of the homepage or by clicking the small white “Sign Up” link at the top of the page. The registration form asks the user for a full name, username, email address and password. The user must also check the terms of service and privacy policy acceptance box at the bottom of the form before submitting their information. As soon as the user has submitted the form, they are taken directly to their account dashboard page.
When the user first signs up, they are given a free account. The free Licorize account includes access to the bookmarklet and plugins, to do list capabilities, idea related features, Twitter and EverNote integration and the ability to import from Delicious. Users can also choose to upgrade to a Premium membership which includes readable links, Kanban boards, customized booklets, work records, the ability to create projects, collaboration tools and the ability to post content to WordPress. The premium membership is available in four subscription options. The first is a monthly subscription which costs around $5 per month. Users can pay approximately $50 for one year which takes the price down to around $4 per month. One year for up to five users costs around $210 (or approximately $3.50 per month per user). A non-expiring option is also available for individuals and costs around $150.
Licorize offers a unique way to do many things online. Users who want a simple, effective way to manage projects, ideas and goals can really appreciate Licorize. The application also provides users with a number of subscription options that make it even more appealing.
