As for the site layout and navigation, at first glance, the website is fairly difficult to get used to, with exterior links to Kirkl’s facebook page and various videos embedded with equal prominence as the menus and options that are needed to access in order to modify an account. That said, it doesn’t take too long before the user can find their way around the site and start making changes to their account. In order to register a Kirkl account, the visitor needs to click the blue “Join Now” button on the main website. They are required to provide a valid email address, password and confirmation, as well as a name. After which, a short verification code must be entered and user agreement confirmed before clicking “Continue”. Eventually, the user will receive a verification code via email. Click the activation link and the account is officially created and accessible. Kirkl is entirely free to use, although they do offer a “Kirkl Store” which users can buy various t-shirts, and tags for pets. The iPhone Kirkl app is also free to use as well. Advertisements are almost non-existent on the site, which is refreshing for a free to use web service, but as they get bigger, this of course may change. KirkL is aimed at people who place a great deal of value in their online presence, businesses and individuals alike. For businesses, Kirkl allows them to distribute a simple number to clients and partners which links them to everything that company is about. For individuals, it allows online social butterflies to easily distribute their Kirkl number to friends and family in order to keep in touch in a way that doesn’t require everyone to register accounts for a service that they may not want to use themselves, that way a person can stay in touch with many different people without needing to manually search out that person on dozens of different social networking sites.
