Keepsy lets users work together to create personalized photo albums online. A user can begin an album and add personal photos and decorations to customize the look of their album pages. Then the user can share their album with friends and invite them to participate in its creation. Friends and family can add their photos and create additional pages so the album is a complete collection of memories that everyone is able to contribute to. Users can also pitch in and order an actual print copy of the photo album for someone. Albums can be purchased with an Amazon gift card to complete the gift.
Keepsy is based out of Menlo Park, California. Founder and CEO Peter Weck has extensive experience with start up companies and is currently an active angel investor. Along with Weck, the Keepsy team includes Vice President of Product and Marketing Blake Williams, CTO Kai Zhao, Principal Designer, Craig B. Rader, and Principal Software Engineer Junyi Sun. Keepsy was created in 2010 and has already grown in popularity as a unique way to build personal, customized photo albums as a group.
Many websites allow users to build collections of photos. Some even include slide shows and album style designs. The main thing missing from many of these is group participation. Keepsy lets users invite others to participate in the creation of a personalized photo album. After completing each page, the user can order an actual copy of the album to keep forever.
The Keepsy website invites users with a fun orange dotted background and grey header. The black logo features a stylish jack that compliments the clutter free atmosphere. Users are given easy to use tools to design and customize their photo albums. Everything from vibrant background images to picture frame graphics and lettering can be added to a Keepsy album.
New users can register for Keepsy by clicking on the blue “Login with Facebook” button at the top, right hand corner of the homepage. A pop up box will appear requesting the user’s Facebook login information. The user will also be asked to allow Keepsy to access their profile. Users can also click an orange “Start an album” button at the bottom right hand corner of the homepage. This works the same way with the pop u box. If the user declines logging in through Facebook, the site advises them that it is required to access all feature available on Keepsy. There is no other login option currently available on the site.
Keepsy provides a fun service that lets users collaborate on personalized online photo albums. Although the site is entertaining and useful when creating an album with assistance, it doesn’t offer anything that would justify a subscription fee. Users can create and edit their Keepsy albums for free. There are no charges for using the application. The only price the user has to pay is if they decide to order an actual copy of their photo album.
Keepsy provides users with a great way to build a touching, personal photo album. The group element makes the album even more unique, providing images and perspectives of many people rather than just one. Users can check out their album online or order a copy to keep forever.
