The site is still in beta, so additions may be made as KeepStream develops. For now, users can compile social networking content on KeepStream to store permanently and share with others. In September 2011, the app was acquired by Infochimps, a site dedicated to helping people find the data they need.

Anyone can join KeepStream for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for logging in. Users sign in with an existing Twitter account, which is also free. KeepStream integrates with many other free sites, including Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Blogger, Google and TypePad. The price is a plus, although it should be expected to some degree because social networking sites in generally are usually free. At least, the type that KeepStream is designed to work with are.
