What can you use the app for?

KashFlow is a small business accounting software intended for companies in the United Kingdom. The user can build customized invoices that include logos and other visual elements. The completed invoice can be emailed or printed as a PDF file. Automatic invoicing allows the user to set up recurring payment requests. Automatic reminders are also included as well as product lists and payment records to help the user keep track of invoice status. Reports are included and allow the user to sort data by payment method, sales type, product, source or customer. Monthly income and sales reports are available. The user can handle reminder letters and non-payment issues. KashFlow includes links to third party collection companies that help the user obtain payment for a debt.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

KashFlow was founded in 2006 by Duane Jackson. The application was intended to give U.K. based businesses an easy way to control their income and invoicing tasks. Although the application offers a number of helpful services, some users felt that the visual elements as well as a few shortcomings of some of the features to be off putting. The user can only work with one currency at a time and some features are well hidden, making them difficult to find.

What are the differences to other apps?

KashFlow caters to small businesses in the United Kingdom. The application includes a number of features geared towards this audience, making it a unique alternative to some of the more widespread or general accounting solutions available. The application covers a lot of ground, but could be refined in a few areas. The user may find it difficult to locate the bank statement importing tool. The application allows the user to view their financial data in a number of ways, which allows a small business to find the information they need to make important money-related decisions.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

KashFlow has a rather lighthearted, yet professional design that uses an out of place pink and blue color scheme. The data is presented in an organized manner, with much text and basic data entry fields and drop down boxes. The color scheme actually feels a little out of place given the purpose and rather plain design of the application. After getting beyond the soft blue and pink hues, the user must also scour columns and lists of numbers and information to find what they need. The application uses no modern visual design elements (such as stylish charts or graphs).

How does the registration process work?

A new user can try KashFlow by clicking the blue “Start Trial” button in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The registration form on the following page asks the user for a desired username, company name, contact name, email address and telephone number. The user is also asked how they heard about the application and must check the terms and conditions box at the bottom of the form. The next form asks the user to provide a password, memorable word, VAT registration number (if they have one) and optional promotional code. The user can login after submitting the form.

What does it cost to use the application?

All new users can try KashFlow for free for 60 days. After the free trial has ended, the user is required to purchase a subscription to continue using the application. Subscriptions costs $24 per month and include access to all current features. The user must pay an additional $12.49 per month for hourly Paypal imports and $4.40 additional for weekly Paypal imports. The user can also browse a collection of add on features that come at a separate cost.

Who would you recommend the application to?

KashFlow is ideal for small businesses located in the United Kingdom. The application includes a number of helpful features, despite the awkward color scheme and plain design. The application is best for users who aren’t looking for much in the way of modern visual style in their financial software. Some may find it more difficult to read through columns of text while others may appreciate the very basic, old school style of KashFlow.
