Kaboodle is a social media site offering aggregation services for dedicated shoppers. Users can find and recommend new items to each other. Kaboodle let's its users search for fashion, beauty and home items. Additional categories that one can browse through include deals, buzz and trends. There is a Kaboodle button that can be added to the browser which adds the ability to select products from anywhere online to store on one's Kaboodle account. It also offers a nice way for users to search for other products directly from the Kaboodle site. Users can organize their shopping and wishlists, announce their personal style to the Kaboodle community, find new products and network with members who have similar tastes in fashion. Kaboodle launched in 2005. Its founders felt that online shopping needed a makeover to make it an easier and more appealing experience. Membership at Kaboodle has been gradually growing over the years. In 2007, the company was acquired by Hearst Corporation for $18 million. Kaboodle seems to differentiate itself from other internet shopping aggregating services through its community services. For example the ability to have polls and to get feedback on fashion tastes or thoughts is unique. Kaboodle seemed to offer products from a large variety of sites as well, making it a good tool for consolidating one's internet finds and not just being limited to the sites "approved" by the aggregating service. The site was very slow and didn't load well in Firefox. By accessing the site through a Safari browser, pages seemed to load faster but then certain links were unresponsive. Pages were quick to load, except for when they didn't load at all. This occurred on two separate days, so this was quite disappointing. Seeing that the site appears to be well laid out and visually appealing, the issues that they have with their servers are a major turnoff that they need to resolve. One has to sign up in order to enjoy the services available on the site, such as online shopping, making friends, joining groups and so on. The registration process is very easy and quick. One has to provide their email, username, password, date of birth, and gender to register. Kaboodle is a free service. The website generates its revenue through advertisements. Kaboodle would be a great tool for anyone who is serious about shopping and online fashion, especially if their styles are unique and not always following in line with name brands. However, Kaboodle.com was sluggish and this user had problems accessing it on two separate occasions during this review.
