Jux makes it easier for anyone to create an eye-catching website. The user can begin by selecting a pre-designed site on Jux. The application gives the user a large selection of site designs to choose from. Each is assigned tags and shows the user can see how many views it received, a short description and who submitted it. Jux also supplies widgets, themes and various types of pages. The user can take each piece and incorporate it into their Jux website. Each user is given up to 1 GB of storage space for their website however the sites do not incorporate any advertisements or Jux branding. The user does not have to possess any HTML knowledge; however users can access source code. Jux is also very supportive of its users and enables them to move their site to other hosting services if they prefer. Widgets can be dragged and dropped to the user’s site, including photo galleries, feeds and buttons. Members of the Jux community are encouraged to add additional widgets, themes and sites, which also means that the selection is constantly growing as more users participate.
Jux is designed to give the average internet user a better way to build their own, original website. The company was founded in 2011 and is based in New York City, New York. Since it was first introduced, Jux has been growing rapidly. The Jux community is nearing the 30,000 member mark as more internet users create their own web spaces using bits and pieces found through Jux. In October 2011, the website launched its first app for the iPad.
By bringing many people together to collaborate and contribute, Jux manages to provide its users with a large variety of options that can be used in their website designs.
The Jux website welcomes users with a refreshing blue color scheme that features deep, faded hues to match the overlapping squares of the Jux logo. Large links run across the top of the page, inviting the user to sign up or learn more about what Jux can do. The application itself is designed to be very user friendly. Users are not required to do any coding to create a website with Jux and adding widgets and other elements are as simple as dragging and dropping the desired item onto the page.
A new user can build a website by clicking the green and white “Get Started” button along the lower, right hand side of the Jux homepage. The following page asks the user for a valid email address, password and username. The username will also serve as part of the user’s Jux URL. A small white box is available in the lower, left hand corner of the form for users who would like their information remembered. After filling out the form, the user can click the blue “Start Creating” button to the right.
The price of Jux is another appealing feature many users can appreciate. Anyone can create a website on Jux for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for doing so. Users can also create multiple websites at no cost. There are storage size limitations, but the application does not utilize third party advertisements and does not apply its own branding at this time. Overall, it’s a great tool for the price.
Jux is a website design tool intended for both experienced coders and those who have no website design experience. Users can contribute widgets and other items or use those that were contributed by their fellow Jux users.
