What can you use the app for?
Jobster is a revolutionary job search website that uses state of the art technology which makes it really easy to search for jobs all over the internet. Jobs on the internet and their own databases are searched. It’s also possible to find out about the company by reading about and talking to past employees. All profiles are designed in a professional way which makes it possible to get noticed by people, even on the search engine. It’s much more than just a job search engine, it’s also possible to use it like a social networking site and create tags so that people can easily find you.
What is the history and popularity of the app?
Jobster was launched by Phillip Bogle and Jason Goldberg in early 2004. The business has offices in Seattle and has received funding from Trinity Ventures and Reed Elsevier Ventures among others. Jobster has acquired a number of other similar sites throughout its life, in 2005 they acquired WorkZoo, and this was added into the hope page of jobster. Recruiting.com was acquired by Jobster in 2006; this sit has since been rebranded and launched as another interesting recruiting site. Jobster is a very popular job search site and currently attracts high profile employers such as Microsoft and Dell.
What are the differences to other apps?
Jobster is a job search and listing site that unlike many of the competitors is completely free to list and post jobs on. Another major difference is that it’s possible to create a video profile for employers to look at and decide whether or not you have what they are looking for. They have changed their strategy quite often, when the site was first launched you had to pay to list jobs, then they made it free, however now it looks like you have to pay again.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
Jobster isn’t difficult to use and you don’t even need to register for an account to start using it. Jobster is just like a normal internet search engine; the only difference is that you are searching for jobs rather than websites. Like most of the other Web2.0 applications you are guided through every step of the process, even creating a job is easy thanks to the guidance. The application is very quick to use, with new jobs being visible on the site within around 30 minutes.
How does the registration process work?
Signing up to jobster is easy enough; there are different accounts whether you are an employee or a job seeker. If you’re signing up as an employer then you will have to select the type of account you want to create. To register you just need to enter some basic information and then complete the simple human test. Alternatively if you have a face book or LinkedIn account you can use those to register your details. You will then be sent a verification email which you will have to read, and click the link to confirm your email address is really what you said it was. Once you have confirmed your email you will then be able to use your account.
What does it cost to use the application?
Jobseekers can register for free accounts, and you can even upload your resume and get headhunted for free. Jobster makes its money from adverts, and the fees that it charges to employers looking to fill positions.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Jobster is a very useful job search engine that is popular with a number of big names including Microsoft. There are thousands of jobs in their databases and you should find it fairly easy to find a job that takes your fancy.
  • Upload resumes and photos to your personal profile
  • Post jobs to an audience of thousands
  • Search for people or jobs
  • Research certain employers before deciding to work for them.
