What can you use the app for?
Jobfox.com is an online job search and career networking site that has a different approach to the traditional job board model. Rather than focusing on the jobs available, the site focuses on the job candidates, matching qualified candidates with companies seeking to fill positions. As a result of this focus, job seekers are not able to search the available jobs. Top-ranked candidates receive more visibility to employers and can receive “Intros” from employers interested in their skills. All candidates receive potential job-match results to which they can respond. The user has a Home page where they can manage their Intros, Jobs Inbox (job matches), Favorite Jobs, and Deleted Jobs. Users can also edit their resume and profile from their home page, as well as change their contact information and account preferences. The site has a number of tools for helping potential job applicants, including a resume analysis service. Users can also elect to receive SMS alerts when matches are found or they receive Intros from employers. The site is free to use for job seekers. From an employer perspective, the site asks employers to fill out two simple forms about their company and the position they have open. The site functions as a paid service to employers. Once they have completed the basic job information forms, the site will email potential matches to them for up to 6 months (or until the job is filled).
What is the history and popularity of the app?
Jobfox was founded in March 2004 by CareerBuilder.com founder Robert McGovern. He currently serves as CEO of the company, while Rich Ellinger serves as CTO. The company is headquartered in McLean, VA. and has offices in 10 major US cities. The site has grown steadily since launch, and currently has hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors.
What are the differences to other apps?
Competition to Jobfox.com comes from sites such as Monster.com, Craigslist and CareerBuilder. The major difference between these sites and Jobfox.com is the fact that Jobfox concentrates on presenting candidates to employers, while the other sites primarily work the other way around. In addition, the profile that Jobfox builds for each job candidate is more complete, presumably allowing them to offer better matches of applicants to jobs.
How does the web app look and feel to use?
Jobfox has a clean, uncluttered look and feel. Navigation is convenient, with users being able to do most tasks from their home page via a convenient side bar menu. The site is very responsive, with page loads happening quickly. Job matches are returned immediately after signing up (10 best matches), then periodically over time. Any Intros received from employers are delivered instantly.
How does the registration process work?
Registration at Jobfox is free to job seekers. The registration process asks for zip code, email and password, then asks the user a series of questions about where they would like to work and salary required. At this point an account is created and the user is then prompted to upload a resume or to enter detailed background information about their work history and experience. The site supports resumes in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Rich Text, and Plain Text format. Then a series of questions is asked to determine how the job applicant best works – whether on-site or in a home office, in a team setting, etc. At this point the user receives the 10 best job matches found, and their profile is available for employers to view. Employers are also notified of the job matches and may send an intro to a prospective employee.
What does it cost to use the application?
The cost to employers to use the Jobfox service ranges from $349 for a single job profile, to $135/per profile for between 30 and 50 job profiles. The employer must furnish basic information about their company and detailed information for each of the job profiles. Employers receive matches as soon as they are found, and are notified of matches via email.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Jobfox is recommended to job seekers who would like to ensure a good match between themselves and their employer. The site uses some fairly sophisticated algorithms to come up with job matches, and the results are probably a bit better than some of the other job board sites on the Internet. Jobfox is also recommended to employers seeking to fill open positions for the same reason – the matches are better than the competition. The site is very easy to use for both job seekers and employers, and offers a quality, tangible service to either one.
  • Changes the traditional approach to job boards – The focus is on presenting the candidate to the prospective employer
  • Relatively painless sign-up process for job seekers, particularly if they have a resume already prepared
  • Site is user friendly – easy to navigate and intuitive to use
  • Job seekers receive matches to the jobs they are most suited for
  • Job seekers can receive “Intros” from employers who they have been matched with
  • Site is free to job seekers - Functions as a paid service from the perspective of the employer

I got an email from someone at Jobfox telling me that I needed work on my resume. I have been told by many recruiters from places that I have applied to in the past that my resume is fine and I have good information. The guy basically insulted me and offered someone to help me fix my resume for $349.00! Are they nuts! I am not going to pay some phony company to help me "fix" my resume. I immediately unsubcribed to this service. Also the job I applied for was posted on Indeed jobs several months ago and was not even listed on that particular companies website when I researched it so you know that job was filled months ago! They are liars! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING!

I have had my job postings scraped by Jobfox. Seekers had to go through Jobfox before they apply for MY job posting! Not only do they scam my prospects but they send me candidates and say I have to pay them to access the resumes. This site is a serious scam and I advise every single job seeker AND recruiter to stay away from Jobfox. I finally had to threaten legal action against Jobfox before they stopped posting my jobs and then had to send me the resumes of the people who applied for my posted jobs. Jobfox needs to be investigated for fraud.

I think I've just been scammed!! Unfortunately, before I read this string of complaints. After being routed to this Jobfox site and completing the online app including my resume, I realized that the woman who contacted me to help me set up an interview with a local bank in my area, was a total scam artist and BS!!! She interviewed me for 20 mins and promised an interview within 1-2 days. Ice received no calls/emails after that call. She interviewed me for my personal info alright! Like an idiot, I gave her my social and DOB without even thinking why she'd need all that from me. If you're reading this, I hope that you haven't done what I just did!

Saved me much time and effot to get my name out there, Just remember, for every job theres about 500 people that apply for the same job.and keep a positive attitude." This poster is full of it, Jobfox is a Scam. Do not give them anything, you will get nothing!

I clicked through on an ad on Simply Hired and was directed to Jobfox, which requested that I submit my resume and email before applying for the job on an employer's web site (Aon). I immediately questioned why they'd ask for a resume and email and hesitated, but I could see the Aon online job application and it looked legit. I filled out the application on Aon's online job application site. Within one hour, I received a phone call from a woman about the job. Instantly, I thought BS. She didn't talk at all like a legit company HR person. She was talking fast, hyping the job, talking salary and said she could get me in for an interview in a day or two. Also, she was calling from a personal cell phone (not an office) and even asked me if I thought she was funny. No legit HR person with whom I have ever spoken speaks like this woman did. I told her I'd think about it, and that was the end of the call. It's a complete scam. I believe she could see the job for which I'd applied and called me trying to set something to generate a commission. She didn't even read my resume. Oh, and she said she was at Aon's office but using her personal cell phone. Right! It's an obvious scam. I bet I start receiving boatloads of spam now. Sigh. I'm so sick of scams and spam on job boards.

I signed up for the Jobfox free service and resisted their numerous appeals to send them money. I continue to get e-mails from them that jobs they posted "are no longer available through Jobfox." Translation: they simply pull job listings and when companies complain they back off--in the meantime, though, you think you've applied for a job when you really haven't.

Scam! Stay away! These ratbastards make it look like you're applying for the job posted. Instead, you are uploading your resume and other information to Jobfox. I can't believe that I was stupid enough to fall for this bullshit. The best way to apply for any job is to go directly to the company's website and do it from there.

The new functionality is just another way for them to gather your information so they can get the names/networks of all your friends. Jobfox is a very unethical organization and they try to sell themselves as something "revolutionary" but in reality it's total bs. They don't call themselves foxes for nothing.

Seems like the new "networking with recruiters" functionality is a complete scam. After submitting an inquiry about it to Jobfox customer service it appears that either the networking function is a joke, or customer service is a joke. Strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Buyer Be Warn!!!

On April 10, 2011, on JobFox website, they stated if I pay $5.00 they will critique my resume. I paid the $5.00 fee and I received a critique of my resume, but this time, they asked for $399.00 to rewrite my resume. I thought the $5.00 was suppose to pay for the rewrite of my resume. I felt I was cheated. I wasted my money paying the $5.00 just to learn later they wanted $399.00. The lesson I learned, if it's too good to be true then don't fall for the scam. Run like HATE!!!

I had my resume designed & written by a professional years ago but just the other day was close to sending JobFox money based on their critique. Guess who won't be getting my credit card number??!! similar experience. This weekend i thought i was applying to a company and ended up routed to jobfox and filling out there questionnair and uploading a resume. then i realized this can't be right, then i noticed the jobfox logo. sure enough i recieved this morning a note saying they have critiqued my resume and can offer to rewrite it for close to $400. I called and asked questions, it was clear that they do not refund money and could only verbally promise that they would continue to rewrite until i was satisfied, at least within 60 days. they offered to send me a couple of samples, but i have not seen them yet. I told them i would get back to them since i wanted to do some research. It's clear that i should not and will not move forward with these people. i will also advise others not to use it. Again thank you all for your comments and good luck on your searchs!!

Jobfox is nothing more than a place to sign up for junk email and spam. They do offer jobs, but many have expired. You must sign up for their service and while filling out the information in order to see what they offer, they cleverly and insidiously place ads in the sign up form that loo like part of the sign up form. So as you fill out the form, you unknowingly sign up for ads and spam. They know that the ads placed on the site are built to look like another page as you fill out the required information to become a member and therefore are party to the ruse. This alone makes them culpable as scammers...but there is more. Then the barrage of bulls#it gets worse. They have a software program that reads resumes and automatically sends you a very special offer to rewrite the resume for about $400.00 (to people who are out of work...that's a lot of money). The offer is the same to all who posted their resume on their site, the words are the same (mixed up a little for plausible deniability), the issues are the same, and the service they offer for writing the resume is lame and well overpriced. They offered to ctitique mine and I never responded because it was professionally written. Then they went and sent me an email stating that they went and critiqued mine anyway. Go figure that they continued by saying it was weak, needed better usage of words, wasn't aesthetically ideal, etc. They are full of S#IT!

Very Mad Job Fox User
on 07 Dec 2010 at 18:08
Thanks, Job Fox for the crap review you gave me. Contrary to your claim that your resume reviews aren't computer generated, why is it that so many people get the same review? I did some research on Job Fox and all of the web sites that have good reviews were generated by Job Fox. That makes me very very mad. Job Fox reviews of its own service paints a picture of having 100% satisfaction from customers. So why are there so many complaints?

I signed up for Jobfox in early October when I heard the word "free." I unsubscribed when I kept getting e-mails that said "For X amount of dollars, we can do this....." Two days after clicking the unsubscribe button, I come across this website blasting Jobfox and their practices. Thanks to all who posted. I didn't have the money anyway to pay this organization but others may, so stay away! Beware of job.com website as well. They are the ones who led me to Jobfox and they are also shady, in my opinion.

I was looking for a job this summer and I used careerbuilder and jobfox. Careerbuilder did a really great job with listings (valid and current listing), which led to me getting a new job within 3 months. Jobfox was a waste. They listed no jobs that were of any interest to me or that matched what I looked for - just sent a lot of email telling me I wouldn't find a job without them overhauling my resume.

Jobfox has many more than the 85 complaints they say they have. They are rated D on the Better Business Bureau with 25 complaints in the last 12 months. Jobfox IS A SCAM! They are creating new twitter accounts and tweeting how wonderful they are and they have uploaded a video with someone telling us how wonderful they are. The guy says that Jobfox brings seekers "hope". Hope? of what? I thought you bring them jobs.

Jobfox DOES take company postings and puts them on their site. I asked a recruiter from one of the companies I applied to via Jobfox and they said DO NOT use Jobfox to apply for jobs that are w/ their company. Recruiter said that they have asked Jobfox many times to stop posting their company's jobs but they keep doing it. They plan on filing a complaint.

As an employer I am upset with JobFox because they keep posting my jobs that were filled MONTHS ago! I have never posted anything with them. Instead they search the internet and post jobs without permission. So now I keep having to take calls from people that are interested in jobs that aren't open. I have asked them to take the jobs down, and they don't. As I job seekere I would not rely on this job board. Go to the more ethical, free ones like CareerBuilder or Monster.

You would think that if they wanted to pretend it was a real person doing those reviews, they would be smarter than emailing it to me at 3am on Sunday morning! I didn't realize they were pulling up old job listings, but now I understand why I was unable to find some of the jobs on the company's websites as previous postera have mentioned. Hey, this site is a joke. I've gotten a couple calls from jobs I looked into on a site called QuietAgent. I don't have anything more to say about it than that, really, though. It's alot cleaner, doesn't repeatedly ask for money I don't have, and with none of that odd untraceable fish smell!!! It will blow up your inbox though. I feel that QuietAgent is much better. Does anybody know of the best way to fix a situation at a job where your GM is too lazy to write the schedule and the Assistant he has doing it is screwing you? I'm not the guy she has extra-curricular activites with and my 6 hours a week are starting to have violent thoughts about his 37. I get bounced back and forth between them and my DM doesn't ever respond to her voicemail. I've contacted our company's outside go-to source (Ethics Point) and that has only resulted in retaliation when the schedule rolls around. Any advice would really make me feel better. Take care. -Chicago

Jobfox is probably one of the worst job boards I have been on. Unable to contact anyone, can't ask questions, don't get quality matches. It doesn't match education at all, only goes on the jobs you have previously had experience in, which is a waste of time if you have just graduated or recently graduated from University/College or are changing careers. There are multiple jobs I have had credentials for but can't apply. The 'advantages' cost money, and if you are unemployed and not getting benefits, you can't afford them anyway. Pointless.

I didn't pay for membership but registered on their site around six months ago. I check the site weekly, and most of the same companies are still listed that were last summer. When I go to their company sites, no such job is posted. I did get one lead. It was an entry level job perfect for a college grad, while I have over 15 years experience. I am continually hit by emails trying to sell me resume rewrites and better options on their site. I wouldn't waste my money on this scam.

Jobfox is a scam and complete waste of money. They lure you in by telling you that they can enhance your resume. You end of paying too much money for nothing. In addition after you sign-up for the resume service they continue to send you email advertising their other services. I agree: SCAM. why do you need to pay to find a job? I think that JobFox should pay you when you start working. Let's reverse the scam to work to our benefit. another company was offering the same type of service for $255 for yearly access to "exclusive" jobs. This almost sounds like the same company that dropped out of sight and closed their doors and screwed people out of their signed "contracts". I think the attorney general of the state should start looking into and regulating these people and their scams. this is the US isn't it?

I have to agree it's a scam. I had my resume reviewed by three agencies and they all said it was fine. This place ripped it apart and claimed I was a follower despite having owned and run two successful companies. One of their comments was that my accomplishments read as a task list assigned rather then "my" accomplishments. There were many other negative comments followed by a "If I were a hiring manager I would dismiss you as a follower and not a doer." They then offered to rewrite my resume for $400.00. The state sponsored seminar I attended for unemployment benefits stated that if a job search site offers services for money then to stay away from them because in almost all cases they are a scam designed to string you along and take your money.

Did follow-up calls to "check on the status" of jobs I had submitted my resume for...not a single employer had actually received my resume -(out of over a hundred submitted). This was (depending on the particular job posting)between 3 and 5 weeks after I has "submitted" my resumes through jobfox. I appears that all jobfox actually does is ask for more money...not actually perform the most basic service (giving the employers your resume). I plan to contact my state's (Texas) AG tomorrow to request that he brings legal charges against them.

It is a scam - When I have gone to the actual companies to investigate if the advertised position on JobFox are open, I have been told that the positions are not open, no longer open or were never open to begin with. A real scam!!!

The site is horrible. The options available for listing education, for example, do not include appropriate options. Just, "list your current level of education," which, of course, for NOW is one thing, but it doesn't help at all when listing that I had 96 units at this college, 29 at this other college, earned a degree at a third college. JOBFOX stinks!

Jobfox is a complete SCAM. Some of the jobs that they advertise don't even exist. I personally called the companies of two of their advertised jobs, and they both told me the positions had been filled months ago. I think they take current and old postings from other job sites, and try to make them their own. Jobfox is a SCAM, RIPOFF, and the website should be shut down ASAP.

I too was contacted & was considering this svc. I got a nice letter w/ what seems to be a very valuable & somewhat detailed critique of my resume (for free)..obviously the actual resume/ cover letter re-write scv. is a PAID for situation & seems costly at nearly $400... either way-- I am offering the contact info & # for those of you who need help getting in contact w/ a human:) The letter sent to me from jobfox ended w/: Please give me a call if you would like to discuss more details about our resume writing service. I’m here to help. You can reach me at 1-877-456-2369 x1115. You can also e-mail me at madeline_w@jobfox.com. Best Regards, Madeline Willis Candidate Service Consultant

Jobfox is a proven scam!!! They were advertising a job in a department headed by a friend of mine. He had no idea what I was telling him about. He was the head of the department that was supposedly hiring and after checking with HR to make sure that he was not hallucinating we realized it was a scam to lure potential job seekers to their site. How pathetic!!! These people are criminals and should be prosecuted by Attorney General of the state you live in.

not only is it a terrible site that's convoluted and difficult to navigate, I couldn't find an email to their customer service until I found this site I'm making the comment on. They got some of my money for their premium membership and I'm sorry to say I paid them big bucks to write my resume and they did a terrible job on it, It was worthless. The resolution process is also terrible and I never got my money back. Unemployed and paying people for poor work. Whats equally as bad is that if you fill out a profile on their site and then find a job advertisement you want to apply for, click it and the job is listed on jobfox, jobfox won't let you apply unless you pay for the premium membership. Total scam and total ripoff. The worst of the internet

JobFox is a scam, and they load old jobs on their site to lure people in. I never gave them a cent, but I can definitely prove they are loading old jobs. Why? Because I saw THREE jobs they posted as "new" that I PERSONALLY INTERVIEWED FOR. And they were either FILLED or the company opted not to fill them. STAY AWAY FROM JOB FOX!

Jobfox rates a 0 in my book. The jobs posted on their site are clearly re-posts from other online sources. In some cases they seem to be jobs that are no longer available from the hiring company. I noticed this because They are incredible spammers who will send 2-3 emails per day trying to wrangle cash out of you if you give them your email. I also tried their resume review service prior to realizing they were a borderline scam. The service is horrible and a complete waste of money. Do not make the mistake I did... Do any business with this company.

I also believe JobFox is a scam. And I think they post cool jobs that don't really exist to lure desperate job seekers in. For example, there is an Events Manager position posted on JobFox at a popular company. I have a friend that works at this particular company who checked with HR and they said that the position doesn't exist. Shady. And the number of spam they send is out of control...they just want money.

Thank you to all who gave feedback. I was on the fence about paying the fee to get the extra benefits but have decided to use a new source. And I too agree that the initial set up was extensive with minimal results. I could also not find anywhere to do a broad search for just openings in my city/state.

I too paid money for this - and after two weeks, not ONE employer has been contacted on my behalf, no jobs matching my qualifications have come up - complete waste of money. It took me forever to figure out how to cancel, and I am seeking a refund. Is there anywhere that has more discussion/info on this, where we can contact someone directly about a group of us going to this company to demand our money?

Those of you who have used this service (or should I say non-service), should call its attention to the State Attorney General in the State where this company is based. If it is proven that these people are not providing a quality service, it could result in some pretty hefty fines and/or sanctions, up to and including the return of the money you've spent trying to find a job with these people! In our turbulent economy, ripping people off is the lowest form of criminal activity! And until "we, the people" get tired of giving away money (that's what you're doing when they rip you off and you do nothing more than rant about it anonymously on some obscure website) and start people like this to task, it’s only going to get worse! Sometime, it’s not worth the energy and effort required to pursue certain injustices, but that's something for each individual to decide! On the other hand, I'm the kind of person who will fight City Hall to the death, if the attack or injury to my rights is egregious enough! (I've taken on 3 employers and a mechanic who I mistakenly thought to have my best interests at heart) and won every fight! Two of them were not big monetary wins but while the money was important, it was never the entire purpose for my fight. I stood up and defended myself simply because I got sick and tired of being had, paying for services or working for employers who gave me far less than what was fair and treated as if I were too stupid to know the difference! I decided that it would be better to fight and lose than to stand on the sidelines crying, and still lose! Winning is not always the most important thing. Sometimes it's important to fight just to let your enemy know that though he may win the fight, he'd better think twice before engaging you in another battle!

I agree with the above comments that JobFox sure sounds good, but it is a complete waste of time and I believe to be a scam. I'm done with them!

To the author of this page; I was considering the advantage upgrade, so if you have any proven rebuttal to all that is being said here, you better jump right in now. The upgrade is very enticing, but the reviews have wiped out the thought of actually taking the step. I tried to find a contact number on the website and found nothing. They should leave the program set to where in order for anyone to continue to be involved in the upgrade, they have to have to sign-up every month, the payment plan is to their ADVANTAGE and not to the job seeker. If you can get at least two to four viable interviews in a month, then you have gotten your money worth other wise, send me your 9.95 and I will hunt for jobs for you, since I spend all day searching at my PC anyway. I'm available for more talk so Blog away on Facebook or My Space and let's find an answer for all of us that are unemployed, perhaps we can email job listing to each other or something.

Jobs did not match background, education, industry, skills, etc. It seemed that what they termed a "good match" was a match that offered everything I wanted ie, salary, location, benefits; even if I had very few of the substantive qualifications for which the employer was looking. Only about 5% of the jobs matched were actually viable, in terms of what I had to offer. More over if you had any kind of question you had to literally "buyin" to the advantage service. It is a great pity that the major job search engines seem to be posting more and more jobfox listings because in my mind I have just fallen for a phishing scam.

JOBFOX is a fraudulent job board. They prey on the unemployed. My name is Henry. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I asked jobfox to cancel my membership within 1/2 hour of receiving their "Welcome" message. They did not acknowledge the cancelation. They proceeded to charge my credit card 4 days later. I tried again repeatedly. They acknowledge my request to cancel but they still drag their feet about the refund. I still don't have a refund after 2 months of trying. No phone number to call. No real person to talk to. Their website is a scam. WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM JOBFOX. Spread this warning around so that others don't fall victim to their practices.

I didn't find this site to be easy to use at all. I didn't get any quality job matches and I keep getting emails for the same job over and over again. It does not say here that it costs $$ for a seeker but it does if you want to receive any bells and whistles. Also, the cost went down $10 since I bought the Advantage Membership and they won't return my calls/emails asking if I can have my rate discounted. Don't use this product. It isn't helpful.
