IMified

Ratingstars4 Rated 4 out of 5 stars by AppAppeal Editor
What can you use the application for?
IMified is an instant messenger friend which lets you access other services through an instant messenger program instead of through a browser. This means you can Twitter without logging in, quickly add a todo or check your calender with a single instant message.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
IMified is created by Dave Hoff and Anthony Webb. They are funding the company themselves. The initial idea was to have a good way to add new notes to Basecamp. IMified launched in February of 2007 and received a lot of positive press.
What are the differences to other applications?
The idea to use an instant messaging program to access information has been around longer, for example to check movie show times. But using it to interface to online applications is a clever new idea. The great part is that you don't have to log in to the application since authentication is done through the instant messaging program. This will greatly reduce the amount of time needed for simple tasks.
How does the application look and feel to use?
After adding the service to your instant messaging program you can use a telephone style menu to navigate (press 1 for....). When you get familiar with the system it is possible to use more advanced commands.
How does the registration process work?
You can sign up by adding the IMified to your instant messaging program (AIM: IMified, other programs: imified@imified.com). Then you send an "M" for the main menu and a "4" to open your account url. When you click this link you can add your login for different web 2.0 services.
What does it cost to use the application?
IMified is currently free and has no advertisements. In the future they will probably charge for extra services.
Who would you recommend the application to?
We recommend IMified if you are using a lot of online applications and spend too much time logging on to them for simple tasks. The interface will take some getting used to, but in the end the speed increase can be worth it.
