What can you use the app for?

There are numerous ways to chat online today. One of the biggest problems regular chatters run into is the problem of knowing which instant messenger programs to log in to. In order to have access to all contacts, the user often has to log in to multiple chat programs, which can lead to a lot of confusion and clutter on the desktop. IM Plus presents a better way for users to chat without neglecting any of their contact lists. IM Plus integrates the most popular instant messenger programs into one web messenger. Even instant messages sent through social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are compatible with IM Plus.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

IM Plus is a part of the SHAPE Services umbrella. SHAPE boasts a lengthy portfolio, including applications that have made it to the top rankings in four AppStore categories. Founded in 2002, SHAPE Services had no financial backing. Today, the company has seen significant growth and has prospered through the creation of clever, innovative and functional applications. SHAPE offices can be found all over the world in the United States, Asia and Europe.

What are the differences to other apps?

It seems like everyone and their brother has an instant messaging program today. While many offer features that draw in thousands daily, it is hard to keep up with them all. IM Plus stands out because rather than creating yet another instant messenger program like everyone else, the application was designed to bring all the existing programs together. This makes it much easier for users to remain available across all accounts rather than picking and choosing a few. It also eliminates the chances of a user forgetting to log in and possibly missing important messages or a contact that was online.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

A visitor to the IM Plus homepage will be pleasant surprised at the Spartan design. It is quite effective and does not lack in character. However it does lack in clutter and unnecessary graphics or annoying banner advertisements. A user can get right to the point, signing in or creating an account to begin integrating all of their chat programs into one manageable window. Navigational links across the top of the page make it easy to find other versions of the application or learn more about the company behind it. IM Plus makes it simple for anyone to access all of their favorite chat programs in a single, readable location.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors that would like to begin using IM Plus must create an account. As soon as the visitor arrives, the yellow IM Plus logo should be selected from the list on the homepage. This is the image to the far left of the list. Under this tab, the user can find a grey “Create Account” button to get started. IM Plus asks for a username, password and email address. An abrupt pop up box appears after entering the information and clicking the “Register” button, advising the user to check their email inbox for a validation email to complete the sign up process.

What does it cost to use the application?

It seems to be the standard that instant messenger programs are available for free to anyone who is willing to register for an account. Naturally, this is a good choice because it encourages users to sign up and start using that specific program. IM Plus follows these same guidelines by offering its services at no cost to the user. There is no membership fee and no premium account option available.

Who would you recommend the application to?

The fanatical chatter (or even the not-so-fanatical) can appreciate the help of IM Plus. Over a decade ago, most people used one of two or three chat programs. Today, there are so many that almost everyone uses many and still has friends that use a different program. Anyone who finds themselves juggling multiple instant messenger programs can get a lot of use out of IM Plus.

  • Link other IM programs, including AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, Skype, Google and more
  • Link chat programs that work through social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace
  • Download iPhone and iPad app version of IM Plus
  • Condense all of their chat programs into one simple application
  • Use IM Plus for free

Hi DoLogin, you're welcome, thanks for the suggestion. I added the Android version. We don't have categories for WebOS and Symbian.
