iGoogle is a free service of Google to create a personalized start page. This page can be accessed by any computer if you are logged in with your Google Account.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Google Personalized Homepage was launched by Google in May 2005. The service was renamed to iGoogle on April the 30th, 2007. It is possible to add web feeds, Google gadgets and read email to your personalized homepage. The service is available in localized versions in different languages. Developers can create pieces of content, called Google Gadgets, for iGoogle pages by using the Gadgets API. The service integrates well with other Google services like Gmail, YouTube and Google Calendar.
What are the differences to other applications?
Compared to other start pages iGoogle has a very clean look. The features of all personalized start page services are largely the same.
How does the application look and feel to use?
iGoogle has the fresh and simple look we know of the Google search engine. All content can be placed using the "drag and drop" function.
How does the registration process work?
You can start creating a start page without having to register. If you want to save the settings you need a Google Account. This is the same account used for other Google services.

Free to use.
Who would you recommend the application to?
iGoogle is recommended to anybody already using Google applications such as email and Google Docs. If you do not use these Google applications you might consider some competitors that offer a more extensive set of features.
